Largest broccoli haul of the year! 🥦🎉

We planted 30 broccoli plants this spring, and it's looking like we'll have enough to keep our family stocked all year long.

Good thing it's everyone's favorite vegetable... because at this rate we'll be eating broccoli with every meal. Breakfast? Broccoli. Lunch? Broccoli. Dinner? You guessed it... broccoli. If you see us turning a slight shade of green, mind your business. 😂🥦

Here's to a freezer full of homegrown goodness!

Garden lesson of the day... 🌶️😂

This is our first year growing peppers, and tonight I was so excited to pick our very first ones from the garden! I was feeling pretty proud of myself... until I looked at the plant labels and realized that most of the varieties we planted are supposed to mature to red, not green. 🤦‍♀️

Needless to say, the rest of the peppers are staying on the plants a little longer while I practice a bit more patience!

With more than 20 pepper plants growing, I'd love some ideas! What are your favorite recipes, or how do you preserve your peppers? Do you freeze them, can them, pickle them, dry them... or something else?

On the bright side, our broccoli harvest is in full swing! We've been picking, blanching, and freezing it, and it's going much smoother since we've done broccoli before.

There is something incredibly rewarding about walking out to the garden, harvesting food you've grown yourself, and knowing exactly where it came from. It makes all the hard work worth it! ❤️🌱

My Ball Electric Water Bath Canner has arrived, and I couldn't be more excited! 🎉

I've been looking forward to this for so long, and now it's finally time to start preserving all the delicious fruits the season has to offer. Jams, jellies, pie fillings, fruit butters... the possibilities are endless! 🍓🍑🫐🍎

Fair warning: my kitchen is about to become a full-time canning station, and you'll probably be seeing plenty of jars, sweet creations, and maybe even a few canning adventures (or mishaps 😅).

Who's ready to follow along? And what's your favorite food item to preserve? 👇❤️

It’s basically a full-blown baby boom over here… and nobody warned us 😅

In the last few days, we’ve had two bull calves show up like they own the place. Just when we started to think we were running a boys-only club, today FINALLY gave us a heifer 🙌🐄

Meanwhile, Chloe made her first official “farm patrol” to check on the new calf and the herd… taking her job very seriously (or at least pretending to while probably getting distracted every 5 seconds).

And because clearly we didn’t have enough going on, the girls went out this morning and casually found… kittens. Just hidden like a surprise bonus level 🐾

Oh—and in case we were getting bored, the first cuts of broccoli are ready and need to be cut and frozen 🥦 because why not add “produce manager” to the job list too?

So if anyone’s looking for us, we’ll be out here counting babies, processing broccoli, losing sleep, and wondering who’s giving birth next 😆

There’s something special about early mornings on the farm… and today brought the sweetest surprise of all. 🌾🐄

Around 7 this morning, I walked out to the barn and found our very first calf of the year waiting for me. Tiny wobbly legs, curious eyes, and one very proud mama. After a full day of soaking it all in, I’m finally getting around to sharing the news 12 hours later. 💛

And it’s a bull calf! Strong, healthy, and already stealing the spotlight around the barn. 🐂

Something tiny — and very sweet — is starting to appear in my garden… 🍓👀
I went out to check on my strawberry plants today and spotted the cutest little baby strawberries hiding under the leaves. It’s officially happening, and I’m way more excited than I should be 😂🌱

We’ve got an overabundance of small and medium eggs right now… so naturally, it’s egg salad time 🥚✨

One little trick I swear by: I always crack the bottom of each egg before boiling. It seems to make peeling so much easier (and way less frustrating 😅).

Now I’m curious—what are YOUR go-to egg hacks?

Drop your secrets below 👇 Let’s settle the “perfect peel” debate once and for all!

Experiment time 🍓

I decided to try something a little different today—I put fresh strawberries in a mason jar and sucked out as much air as possible to see if they’ll stay fresh longer. The idea is that less air = slower spoilage, so I’m curious to see how big of a difference it makes compared to just leaving them in the fridge.

Day 1 and they look perfect (of course 😄). I’ll keep checking them over the next few days and post updates!

Has anyone else tried this before? Did it actually work for you?

No school today… which apparently means the girls have taken on their new roles as “Rock Retrieval Specialists” 🪨

Thanks to winter’s snow removal, the yard is now generously sprinkled with rocks like it was part of some very questionable landscaping plan. So today’s mission: clean-up crew in full effect.

No school = no problem… just a little outdoor labor (with plenty of snack breaks, of course) 😅

Our newest farm hand is officially 3 months old 💛

It’s still been a little too cold to put her on full chore duty, but don’t worry—she’s already pulling her weight. She helped water the cows the other day (moral support counts, right?).

She’s also taken on a very important role in the kitchen as my personal supervisor. She keeps a close eye on everything I do… until she clocks out mid-shift and falls asleep on the job 😄

Honestly, her work ethic could use some improvement—but her cuteness more than makes up for it 🐄✨
