😂 Farm Wife Confession Time…

My husband sent me out to close up the chickens for the night, and while I’m out there I start hearing this sound coming from the woods next to our house. 👀🌲

Ignore the dog in the background, but tell me what YOU think is making that noise!

Now, my husband watches entirely too many cryptid and Bigfoot videos, so naturally my first thought was:

“This man sent me out here to get eaten by one of his bo**er bears.” 🤣🐻

To be fair, he was at work, but that didn’t stop me from wondering if all those cryptid videos were finally coming back to haunt me!

And before anyone asks, yes, I immediately took a video. Not because I’m brave, but because I needed evidence to show my husband that something spooky was out there if I didn’t make it back to the house. 😂👻📹

Luckily, we have three large dogs, so I figured if whatever was making that noise decided to come charging out of the woods, they’d protect me.

Unfortunately, the only one actually barking at it was the corgi. 🤦‍♀️😂

So there I was, standing by the chicken coop, listening to mysterious noises in the dark, placing all my faith in a dog whose legs are only slightly longer than the grass. If I had been attacked by a cryptid, my rescue plan apparently depended on 25 pounds of pure confidence and attitude. 👣🐕🤣

A while back, we asked our customers if they would be interested in purchasing rabbit from our farm. We wanted to share some information about rabbit meat and why it has been a popular protein source around the world for generations!

"Po-tay-toes! Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!"

Ever since I was a kid reading The Lord of the Rings, I've wanted to try Samwise Gamgee's famous "herbs and stewed rabbit."

Well, now that we're considering adding rabbit to the list of proteins offered here at Wiedemann Lakeside Ranch, it seemed like the perfect excuse to finally make it happen.

And I have to tell you... it was AMAZING.

Tender, flavorful, and every bit as good as Sam made it sound. 😁

Now comes the important question:

🐇 Would YOU be interested in rabbit as a locally raised protein option?

If we move forward, we'd likely offer whole rabbits averaging around 3 lbs each at approximately $10/lb.

We know rabbit isn't a common protein for many folks these days, so we're genuinely curious what you think. Is it something you'd buy? Something you've always wanted to try? Or maybe you've had it before?

From our very first market to now, we’ve had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people and building relationships that mean so much to us. Seeing familiar faces return week after week has been incredibly encouraging, and we are so thankful for every repeat customer who chooses to support our family farm.
