Well…whoops! SMRL Parley was briefly exposed to LCLL Alloy Brass at 6 months old when she slipped through a hole in the fence, but we thought she was in the clear. Coming home this afternoon, I saw the 11-month old doe on hillside in the distance with a little pile of white at her feet. I was sure the doeling would be weak and we would have to help her, but nope! She’s totally vigorous, and weighed in at 6.2 lbs! LGD Pearl, also proved her mettle and assisted her first kidding. The doeling was VERY dry.

Twins yesterday from KCR Hekla and LCLL Alloy Brass. Hekla’s 2nd freshening is her first with us, but she has proved to be everything we are looking for in a quality Kiko dam with excellent mothering instincts. We saw these kids arrive over camera, but it was several hours before we had an opportunity to see the new kids in person. No worries, she had everything covered.

My husband arrived home from Chicago at 2 am this morning and I woke up in Albany at 4:30 am with the girls for OHSET meet 3, day 2. True to the easy-care Kiko breed, KCR Hekla had her business covered and didn’t need us. The does usually kid late morning to midday, but a few kid in the early morning hours. Our stall cam caught Hekla’s 2nd freshening at 3 am this morning.
