Echo Run Farm

Echo Run Farm We started in registered dairy goats in 2012. We moved to Tennessee from Ohio a few years ago and breed Oberhasli, Sable, Experimental, and soon to be Alpine.

We are a Cae and Johnes tested herd and participate in DHIR and occasionally LA.

Is 2026 over yet? This year had been the year of loss for us. Yesterday our farm dog/baby goat helper, Grizzly, passed away due to a long bought of epilepsy. Grizz had been fighting it for the last two years and the last two days he went out to the chicken pen and just laid down to be with his bird friends for his last hours here. He said goodbye to all of us, went into one last seizure, and passed away. He had been napping under the wild lilac bushes and was buried right in front of them in the chicken yard to be close to his friends. We love you Grizz and hope you are playing with Sylvester across the rainbow bridge. I’m going to miss you and kidding season won’t be the same without you. Run free my sweet huggable Grizzly Bear. 😭

After talking to our vet, running blood work, and doing an ultrasound it was concluded that this poor boy did have internal injuries that were too extensive to fix. We made the tough call and let him rest in eternal peace. He was well loved while he was here by us and by his very attentive brother. His brother is aptly named Allegiance and will be staying here. Thank you for all of your prayers and well wishes. Not the outcome we were hoping for but this little guy is no longer in any pain and has crossed the rainbow bridge to play with his sire, Freedom and great Granddam, Lotus.

Well, we finished kidding season on Wednesday with Lia kicking out two buck kids. The first buck kid plopped out upside down in the pen. She then ran away from him thinking it was a killer insect coming to get her. Then the second one she tried to trample before we could get to him. Needless to say 1) I would not recommend anyone trying to dam raise with her and 2) Baby Boy #2 is not doing well and may have some internal injuries from his momma. Please send healing thoughts his way everyone.

That gives us a total of 14 Bucks and 9 Does for a grand total of 23 kids born for the year.

This big boy is so gorgeous and adventurous. Echo-Run ? Ultimate Gift aka Jason. As of right now what color would you consider him? His mom and potential dad both changed colors as kids. Just curious what people think.

Went out to check on our last two does that should be kidding any time. Lia looked like she was going to pop at any time. Saw Gift just resting peacefully so didn’t think anything of it. Looked at Lia who was on her knees positioning when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was Gift standing up so I could check her. Instead it was a large kid that was already cleaned up and starting to stand for the first time right next to her. Gift kidded tonight as a second freshener with a single 15 lb buck kid. He is extremely handsome, built to the nines, and has wattles! I will have to DNA to confirm but I think his sire is Thunder. Gift’s udder is exactly what I was hoping for when I crossed her dam, Royalty RJ Glorious with *B CH Klisse’s KCA Lightstrikeofhope. It is the best udder I have bred into our program. Once she’s cleaned up I will get some pics of her udder. If all goes well in 3 and a half weeks Gift will be making her show ring debut at the Cookeville show. We are so excited. I have had high hopes for this girl since she was born. She is my girl and she definitely knows it. She’s large and in charge. Let’s go strut your stuff big girl! Pics of her and her udder coming soon.

We are now at 12 Bucks and 9 Does for the year with one more doe bred. The last doe for 2026 will be Redeemed Coop Amelia who is carrying the last of our Haycreeks Haze Freedom Fighter kids. Fingers crossed for some pink.

I completely forgot to post about our first milk test of the year. Still room for improvement but not bad considering the way our year started and the continued family issues we have. 2/5 of these does have already left for their new home and the other three will be leaving after they are dried this year. Hoping for them to meet their *M requirements completely before they leave.

Oberhasli
Lake 3Y2F - 8.4
Tori 1Y1F - 6.6 (she will be 2Y in May)
Fei 3Y2F - 6.5

Saanen
Ribby 3Y2F - 8
Nessie 5Y4F - 5.5 (Only half a functioning udder after a bad case of mastitis last year)

Experimental
Pet 4Y3F - 4.5 (miscommunication between partners here on who to dry up and who to keep in milk. This girl could milk 16 lbs a day when milked out twice a day.)

We do still have two more does to kid in less than a month; Lia and Gift. Then we will be done with kidding season. Second does and bucks will be available from these does. If interested please let me know.

Pics are of our Fei/Potter girls, Fleur and Figgy.

Just got our annual CAE and Johnes results back. All negative.

I have added more Oberhasli does to the sale list on our website. If you have been on my contact list for a doe kid please let me know. I have a yearling and a doe kid currently on there. One more doe kid will be on there soon once my son decides which one to keep. These are not culls. We wanted to keep these does but due to a lot of obstacles we need to cut numbers even more. We would like these does to go to performance homes if at all possible. These are my does (Mellissa). This is my F line that I have problems letting go of. I love them so much but I needed to make a tough decision to cut a breed for me. I am letting go of my Oberhasli. My son will still have some, just not me. I’m going to concentrate on my Sable’s and possibly Experimentals. Located in Shiloh, TN.
