We will be starting kidding season a little early this year. This year it will be snowing white Saanen babies just in time for Christmas!

I am so glad we got to know you our sweet Miracle. I just wish it had been longer. You were so patient with the kids running around and climbing on your back and loved your forehead and neck scratches. I miss your sweet nicker and bright eyes when they lit up when you saw us walk out onto the field to come see you. We saved you from the border truck but, I wish we could have saved you from this as well my beautiful girl. You were the sweetest horse I have ever had the privilege of knowing and I hope you find peace and happiness across the rainbow bridge. RIP Miracle

Ok, we have the results for our second group of goats that were disease tested. We had a slight scare with one of our goats coming in as inconclusive for Johnes. We retested her with Waddl and she came back as a strong Negative. Phew, that was scary. We have Q fever results on most of the goats but their wasn't enough blood for all of them so we'll definitely be starting to draw more than 3 CC's of blood the next time we test. We have just started to test for Johnes and Q Fever this year. We've been testing for CAE for years. We have never had a CL abscess at either of our farms. All newer goats are officially out of quarantine. Yay!!!

We've had a busy night and morning. So far we have 12 new hatchlings and more eggs have pipped. They are mixed breed as we like most breeds of chickens. But, our two roosters are an Exchequer Leghorn and a Swedish Flower. We honestly don't mind mixed breed babies though as the girls will lay yummy eggs and any boys will help feed us this winter. Thank you to our ladies and gentlemen in our chicken yard for your hard work.

Ok, everyone. I am sorry for keeping you waiting for so long. Life got busy for the last week and we lost our best doe. SGCH Vanjust HE Hermione 1*M (**DNA**) (AS1 E/F) (LA90 VEVE) passed away in her sleep sometime Tuesday night. To say I'm heartbroken is an understatement. She was always at the fence to greet me and give me a hug every morning. She was such a sweet doe and I will miss her greatly. We have a son of her's, *B Echo-Run Sorcerer's Stone AI working in our herd as well as two granddaughters born this year, Echo-Run STN Petra and Echo-Run STN Fire Fairy. They have big hooves to fill and we believe they are up to the task.

The saying when one door shuts another door opens is correct. All three of us went in separate directions within the last month. First up, Henry went to Kenyon, Minnesota to pick up our first new Oberhasli Jr herdsire, Haycreeks Haze Freedom Fighter. Freedom will add general appearance, body capacity, width in the escutcheon, and udder attachment. We are anxious to see this boy's offspring. Thank you Morgan Allen for letting this boy join our herd.

Second up, Earl went to St. Louis, Missouri where Levi Campbell was boarding some new additions for us delivered by Sandy Van Echo out of Tucson, Arizona. We would like to welcome Sir Echo Tayzse and Sir Echo Tayng to our senior doe herd. They are both milking yearlings and will add trimendous strength of bone and length to our herd. Also with them is our second new Oberhasli Jr herdsire Sir Echo Ritan. He is large, big b***d, and long. We can't wait to see the strength he will put on his kids. Thank you Levi for taking such good care of these beauties and to Sandy for letting them come to join our herd. I know how hard it was for you to part with them.

The third trip was with the twins and I. We met up with Tecoa Lynn and Tucker in Stilwell, Oklahoma to pick up two Oberhasli doe kids. We would like to welcome Cream-Of-Kansas' RUS Jazzed and Cream-Of-Kansas' VER Broadway to Tennessee! It was great to see you and Tucker, Tecoa. These girls are so sweet and love to cuddle with us already. These girls should add more mammary capacity, more width, and rear legs to our herd. Thank you Tecoa for letting these girls come home with us. The twins are trying to confiscate your girls from me. 😉

Finally, Earl will be making a trip to Ohio at the end of next week. He is bringing home two Saanen doe kids, SHR Farm SLE Blissful and SHR Farm SLE Magnetic to add more length and general appearance to our Saanen herd as well as to pick up some girls that will be dear to our hearts. We lost a dear friend of ours last year and his beauties will be coming to live with us. I will introduce them to everyone when they come but, most people in Ohio knew Jeff and how much he loved his new matriarch. She will be our new matriarch here and we have big plans for her in the future. Look for our coming in 2024 when Nationals hits our region again.

So far the Upper Cumberland show in Cookeville, TN has been interesting. Only one of our senior does filled due to the heat. Poor girls. But, our Sable juniors decided to outshine the big girls today.

Vallis De Auctus OMOS Sunshine went Grand in Ring 2 earning her dry leg. She was scratched from Ring 1.

Royalty RJ Glorious went Reserve in both rings.

And then the kicker was the Oberhasli Jr who went Grand in Ring 1. Her sire was of our breeding. Congratulations Karen Stark with Ooh Rah Bladensburg! Blade is a beautiful well balanced doe. You have done a great job with her Karen.

Appraisal went smoothly today. We were pleasantly surprised with our first two homebred 90 girls also getting E mammaries. We were saddened by a couple others and then right on with some of the others. We would like to thank our appraiser for how thorough he was and for answering all of our questions. We had a great time and it was a great learning experience! If you don't linear appraise your herd I highly recommend it.

Our young Sable buck kid is growing on me. I know. I don't need another buck. But, he is going to be a big boy and my idea will take a few years to be fully actualized. I'm thinking about turning him into a pack wether and training him to it. My question is if one of my kids decides to show him in pack in the future at fair does it matter if he is horned or dehorned? This will be a learning experience for me but, this buck kid is an extremely fast learner, loves to go everywhere we go, and is very willing to try anything and everything. What do you think?

Last night my girl Echo-Run LEO Faith (**DNA**) (AS1 F/F) (LA90 VEVE) gave us Triplets, two bucks and one doe. Sire is our homebred boy *B Echo-Run Sorcerer's Stone AI (**DNA**) (AS1 E/F). Stoner is the son of the 2017 ADGA Reserve Jr National Champion, SGCH Vanjust HE Hermione 1*M (**DNA**) (AS1 E/F) (LA90 VEVE) and the 2010 and 2011 ADGA National Premier Sire, ++*B SG Tonka-Tails Tipperary Prince AI (LA92 EEE). The first buck is on sold, second buck is available, and the doe is definitely retained. Faith is my heart goat and I am so excited for this doe kid. Her name will be Echo-Run STN Fire Fairy aka Bloom.

The second doe who kidded during the night is Kickapoo-Valley JSC Minervah (**DNA**) (AS1 E/E) (FF LA82 ++++). Sire is Royalty OF Darius (**DNA**) (AS1 F/F). Menah gave birth to a tall, long single buck kid. He looks almost identical to his sire except he got his dams wattles. He is available to a pet home.

These kids put us at 20 Bucks and 10 Does. We have two does left to kid and then we are done til fall. Yes, I did say fall. Since we are down in the south now we are going to be changing up our breeding and kidding seasons. We will be starting kidding season in November and are aiming to be done in February of next year. Well, two nights ago things did not go how I was hoping. We were making our baby check trips and found Reba had gone down while eating her hay. It looks like she had a massive coronary. We are still in shock and are very disheartened for this to happen. We had sold her as a kid and had just gotten her back. Though she wasn't with us for long she filled our hearts with her sweetness and grace. She was our Rebacorn. She had a spot on her forehead that she loved to scratch. Right where a unicorn horn would be. Hence, the nickname Rebacorn. Her daughters, Rio and Reflection, are both beautiful and will be staying right here. We also have her littermate sister and a niece from a half sister to carry on in her stead. Rest in peace our sweet Rebacorn.

On a happy note Heaven's Hollow 1*M (**DNA Pending**) (AS1 Pending) (LA89 VVVV) bred to Luvruc TTMG Niche had triplets, 2 Bucks/1 Doe. The Doe is retained, one buck is pending reservation, and we may hold onto one buck as well. These kids are very impressive as is their mother.

Last night and into this morning we were very busy here at Echo Run. We freshened 4 does. So we were definitely hopping.

Echo-Run LEO Reba kicked us off with Doe/Buck twins. The buck kid is pending.

Then Echo-Run DSJ Kore 1*M gave us a single Buck kid. Buck kid is available with or without papers.

SG Buttin'Heads Empress did not like us hovering so we went for a walk and came back to her giving birth to a single Buck kid. He is retained as we lost his sire to Pneumonia a couple of weeks ago.

Finally this morning, after aborting a buck kid at the beginning of February, Echo-Run MTS Later's Baby! (1*M Pending) gave birth to two live DOE kids!

All Doe kids are retained til we see what else is born and have a chance to observe and evaluate them. Then I will start contacting people on our call list for the doe kids we decide to part with.

Our next wave of kidding season starts soon. We do have some reservations left for buck kids out of these girls.

Thank you to Royal Colors RCBM Formica 1*M! She gave us mixed twins today. Ober-Boerd Tsun & Tstars 1*M gave us twin bucks during the night. With Mica's daughter this brings us to 9 bucks and 2 does. Mica's daughter is 50% Saanen and 50% Oberhasli. I got my Soberhasli doe kid that I was hoping for. Her sire, *B Echo-Run Sorcerer's Stone AI, is the son of the 2017 ADGA Reserve Jr National Champion and the 2010 & 2011 ADGA National Premier Sire. To say I'm excited for this girl is an understatement. I would like to welcome to the herd Echo-Run STN Petra! She is the smaller and lighter colored of the cream babies on the left. If anyone is looking for a pet Oberhasli buck or a Soberhasli buck let me know asap or they will be going to the meat buyer at the end of the week. Transport is available to southwestern Alabama end of this week.

Then the last doe for February is Ober-Boerd Tsun & Tstars 1*M (**DNA**) (AS1 A/F) (LA86 VVVV). Tsun is currently registered as 100% Experimental Oberhasli due to a small white star on her head. However, the spot has shrunk over the years and with her breeder's blessing we are working to try and get her switched to the American herdbook. Tsun milked like a champ in 2021 producing 2700 lbs of milk, 99 lbs of butterfat, and 80 lbs of protein on a 309 day lactation. She is also bred to *B Echo-Run Sorcerer's Stone AI (**DNA**) (AS1 E/F). Her son's should be able to pass on the strong milking ability as well as a strong top line, beautiful flat rump, and show pizzazz.

**Update**
Thank you to everyone who has sent love and healing thoughts Tsquall's way. She is greeting us when we come in the barn again. Tsquall is doing much better and is getting back to her old loving self.

Each year we're all hoping for a safe kidding season and for everyone to be ok. My husband's favorite Oberhasli doe, Tsquall, aborted triplet buck kids yesterday at 3.5 months. Tsquall is very sad and depressed. If you have any spare happy thoughts to send her way please do. Tsquall is usually so happy and outgoing. To see her like this is hard. Thank you to everyone who can send her some love and healing thoughts.
