It is the time of year for the baby chicks to be hatching out. I have an incubator full plus eggs under a broody hen. The incubator will be hatching out on the 21st and the hen her eggs were jusr set so will be 21 days from today. The chicks I have coming are cochin bantams. They are great little birds and so oretty to look at. The chicks will be available if anyone is interested. The picture of the flock are the parents to the eggs in the incubator.

My new Rottweiler Pup is growing like a w**d. She was 28 pounds when I brought her home from my daughter's place in TN. She is now over 70lbs and a real sweetheart. Her favorite game is playing keep away. She is pretty tough on the older bird dog that I have. She likes to body slam her and chew on her short tail. I am in process of trimming grape vines. Hope the weather is better this year and there is a good crop. The blueberry crop last year was hurt by the late frost and I Iost at least 40% of the crop. You can never tell what the weather is going to do.

My cochins hatched and they are pretty awesome. I had a great hatch, I got 18 out of 22 and it apears that there are only 8 roos. Thats not bad, I'll take it. I am keeping two of the roos and the rest are up for discussion with possibly some of the hens. Message me if you are interested in the roos. They did turn out to be a pretty flock.

Changing my bantams this spring from BLRWs to cochins. I have 22 in incubator presently and can't wait for them to hatch. It is always a surprise on the color you can get. Will post pics when they hatch. I also have two cream leg bar pullets, one black majesty maran and a black s*x link pullets that are up for discussion. They are not yet laying but should be by spring. The leg bar lays a blue egg and they are standard size. The maran is suppose to lay a very dark brown egg. Have not seen their eggs as of yet.

I have a new addition to the farm. I have always wanted a Rottweiler. Found this beauty in Decatur TN. She is the sweetest puppy I have ever had and she is only 16 weeks old. Worked out s I was visiting my daughter in Murfreesboro which was a two hour drive but the breeder met us halfway. I am very happy with the way they worked with her. My gorgeous pup's name is Gaia.

It is the time of year when the swallows return to nest. We have a pair of swallows that nest in the corner of our front porch every year. They usually hatch out two clutches with 5 chicks in each one. That is a nest full of babies. Also the blueberries have started getting ripe. We are not going to have that many this year. The late frost we had came at a bad time, just when they were in full bloom.
There will be some out there for picking especially the later variety. Enjoy the pic of the babies you will have to zoom in to see them in the nest.

This time of year is just awesome with all the flowers, baby chicks and fruit bursting forth. The muscadine grapes so far are looking as if it will be a good year. After last year I hope so.

I just love the spring time, flowers that bloom only once and then are gone show their face during the spring. I have some pineapple lillies and some native gladiolus. The grapes so far this year are showing promise for a good crop.
