Woodland Meadow Farm

Woodland Meadow Farm Our Valais also make wonderful pets with all the love and attention we give them!

We're a small family farm in Sinking Spring, PA participating in the Valais Blacknose Sheep breed-up program, breeding show quality Valais to the Swiss standard.

Harper had twin F2 Valais lambs last Wednesday! Nellie a sweet, snuggly spotted 9lb girl and Noble a gentle, "beefy" 12.67lb boy!

I wanted to name her Nettle to go with the woodland theme but the girls really had their hearts set on Nellie, so Nellie it is! We will be keeping Nellie for our breed-up program so we will have F3 Valais lambs next year from her & our other F2 ewe, Mulberry.

The three boys- Nico, Nolan & Noble- will be available upon weaning in June if anyone would like to add these sweet F2 Valais Blacknose boys (to be wethered) to their family! They are already extra friendly from being snuggled & played with several hours a day🙂

Just getting to this now after a long couple tiring days- Jolie had her lambs Sunday night! Look at these sweet little guys!🥰 Nico is the spotted cutie & Nolan is the handsome guy who looks like a purebred (can't believe he's only an F2 Valais)! More pictures to come!

It was a bit of an eventful evening- Jolie had her first lamb quickly, but when it went too long after the first one I had to check if there was a problem. I felt two little hooves but in front of them I felt something that I could not for the life of me tell what I was feeling. We had the vet come out to assist & found that there was a 3rd much smaller lamb that had stopped developing at some point & was balled up & holding up progress. Our vet was able to get it out & safely deliver the live twin that was in there yet. Jolie then decided to reject that second lamb, not sure if it was the rough delivery or the time that lapsed between lambs being delivered but we've been trying hard to help them restore the bond so he doesn't have to be a bottle baby❤️

Mario and Milo went to their new home today to Heavner Family Farm!❤️ We're sad at the thought of not having them on our farm and there were some tears but it helps knowing that they are going to be so loved by their new family and the visitors on their farm! The Heavners are so sweet & we're grateful for the new friendship we've made! Check out their farm page- they sell fresh cut flowers, offer photo opportunities in their flower fields, a farmstand and they raise goats! We hope to visit their farm someday if we're near Burnsville, WV🙂 Thank you Lisa for giving our boys a loving home🥰

Mulberry: "Why trot when you can chaotically bounce?" She brings a certain... enthusiasm😂
Love these quirky girls!

Do your pets greet you with a trot… or full chaotic bounce mode?😁

PENDING PICKUP- we've found a wonderful family for them to go home with🥰
One more month until Harper & Jolie have their lambs! & in light of that, as much as I would love to keep every lamb that is born here (& admittedly I held onto all 3 of our wethers from last spring because I couldn't bare parting with our first lambs on the farm!) as we're nearing lambing season I'm reminded that we can't hold onto all of them especially since we'd like to keep our flock small.

So meet Mario & Milo who are looking for a loving home to go to together. They are 9 & 11 month old F2 Valais Blacknose wethers. They are very friendly, snuggly and love kids! They are used to goats and dogs being in a pasture with them. Their foundation is Scottish Blackface, they have pedigrees & are registered with VBSANA. Their full siblings placed 1st & 2nd in their class at the National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show in Iowa in 2024 so you could always show them if thats something you're interested in. We are asking F1 level prices for them (see last picture with Valais pricing breakdown) because as I said we would like to keep our flock small so I'd like to find them a home soon before we have more lambs in the spring. Message me with any questions, but please serious inquiries only, thanks!

I rarely post on Facebook- I'm just not much of a fan of social media- but thought this is a fun post to share. My sister, Christina Windust, & I had a blast at the USA National Valais Blacknose Sheep Show, Grading & Sale in Iowa this weekend! There were so many beautiful sheep to admire. It was great getting to meet & make new friends with others who are also passionate about the Valais Blacknose breed! I was also excited to take more judging/grading classes to gain more knowledge for our breed-up program.
