Are our geese friendly? They are sweet, reserved and even our kids can put them in their pen! If you're looking for geese next year, definitely look into Pilgrims!

Pilgrims are relatively quiet, great foragers, amazing at alerting to anything different, friendly especially if snacks are involved, and overall a great beginner goose in our opinion. They are our yard puppies. 🥰We will be hatching goslings next season.

However, I personally haven't decided if I will hatch chicks from our rainbow pen again due to being due with baby #4 in Feb/March. It may have to be a preordered thing to make sure they have homes lined up. We will see as the time gets closer!

Baby #4 is due to make an appearance in late winter!

Please understand if I don't get back to messages quickly, this pregnancy has been rough so far with morning sickness. The next busy season might look different in what I hatch or offer but I'll figure it out as the time gets closer! 😊

For now, I'm brewing our final baby bean. 💕

Doing chicken chores this morning and checking on our newest coop hatch, I realized there was a 1 day old chick missing. Our only gray baby. I found it and sadly thought it was dead with rigor mortis already setting in. I found it belly down with legs behind it.

On my way to dispose of it, it lifted its head ever so slightly I thought I was imagining it, but I stopped and checked it over. It blinked and was slightly moving its head even though the rest of the body was stiff. Movements were very minimal and easy to miss though. I immediately stopped and cupped it into my hands. Slowly I was able to bring its temp up enough and move its legs back into the correct position. Realizing then it was hypothermic, I brought it in and wrapped it in a warm cloth towel. Then I placed it into our "icu-bator'. Happy to report after time warming up and some sugar water, it's chirping and walking around!

How it didn't end up under its mama last night, I'll never know. I'm also very anxious to give it back to its mama tonight.

Just a reminder that during off season eggs are 5/dz. Eating or hatching. 😊

If you want to do some more hatching, now is the time to get some pretties at a discounted price before the ladies quit for the cold season coming!

I gave Miss Dolly (she is an ayem cross from Shoestring Farm ) a bunch of Olive eggs a few weeks ago and today we have babies hatching! Very excited for these babies to grow and see what they produce. 😍

Obsessed over a few of our new layers! I didn't keep many from my rainbow pen this year, maybe 10 (that is not many in chicken math. 😂) but they aren't disappointing so far! 😍

With how hectic it was at the beginning of the month dealing with a very sick kiddo, I also had a mama hen hatch out babies! While I've been checking daily to make sure they are good, I finally got out there last night to really look them over and interact with the mama and babies.

Our mama is Mocha Bean, a Seabright/Ameraucana mix. She lays a pretty seafoam green egg and is absolutely the sweetest lady. Also the most protective mama I've ever had. She hatched 7 out of 9 eggs. 💕
