Added 2 steers and 2 heifers to our field section with the bigger steers last week. While they are missing their 'moms', we do fence weaning so they can still see each other. This also gives the moms a break from nursing and be in better shape for winter.

Spring grass deficiencies in cattle involve low magnesium (Mg) levels, leading to grass tetany. This is why we put out high mag tubs (with other vitamins/minerals in them) and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to help stabilize the rumen, prevent metabolic issues, and acid buildup or bloating. Rumen is the largest compartment of a cow's 4 part stomach.
