We still have this little Bernese Mountain Dog pup up for discussion, if anyone wants to talk in messages about him. All of his brothers went to their new homes quickly. This 11 week old guy is still waiting for a family to call his own. Could you be that family?

Captain and Opal are outside patrolling the field, doing their jobs to protect our livestock. Don’t worry, they have a barn to get into if they get cold. The dogs not built for this weather are tucked safely inside. Not every dog needs to be inside when it’s cold. They just need adequate shelter.

One of our most important goals as an organization is to promote peaceful coexistence with wild animals. We strive to make sure that owners of livestock seek effective, nonlethal methods of protecting their herds. Instead of killing native predators— a futile, cruel, ineffective approach— many ranchers make the excellent decision to employ livestock guardian dogs.

Livestock guardian dogs are saviors of livestock, wild animals, and even other dogs. The mere presence of a well-trained livestock guardian will almost always keep predators like coyotes, bobcats, and stray dogs from attempting to hunt domestic animals. They enable ranchers to keep their wards safe without harming wild animals. Sadly, though, misunderstandings have led to many owners being afraid of stigma, judgment, or even criminal prosecution, for having dogs as livestock guardians.

It is absolutely cruel and dangerous to keep most pets outdoors in cold temperatures. However, an appropriately trained and bred livestock guardian is built to handle working in extreme weather. Responsible owners also ensure that their livestock guardians have shelter and windbreaks outdoors so they can stay safe and comfortable while working. Blanket demands of, “bring them inside” can ironically lead to unnecessary animal cruelty as ranchers resort to lethal methods to keep predators away.

Please help save wildlife by letting livestock guardians do their jobs. Many animals will be hunted, trapped, or poisoned unnecessarily if a livestock guardian’s work is made illegal... But, of course, by all means, go ahead and report your neighbor who makes his chihuahua live outside in winter!

It is time to announce the arrival of the litter of pups I’ve been so excited for. It finally happened. On January 1, 2026, Bear and Elsie gave me 9 beautiful boys. 8 of them will be up for grabs in the next few weeks. I will post pictures of the pups in a week or so when they no longer just resemble fuzzy black jelly beans. Here’s a picture of the handsome Bear to tide you over.

Fingers crossed these 2 will be first time parents in January

This child right here is a menace. He’s our future herd buck. Meet Elmer(Its Elmer Elizabeth when he’s whiney). He’s been with us a few weeks. So we’re starting to cut down on bottles each day, so for a few hours each day all he does is whine. But we love him. He fancies himself a gardener and tries to eat all of the flowers that he can.

We welcomed 10 of these guys the other day. This one was just for fun because I was curious what the mix would look like. Mama is a Lion Head and Dad is a Flemish Giant. They’re 4 days old and Mama, Nayeli, is doing a fantastic job raising them.
