Today would have been my Nana’s 100th birthday. Anna May — “Annabelle” to my grandfather. Her name lives on in four generations of women in my family, and now in acres of land in Smyrna, Tennessee. Happy birthday, Nana. 💛

Took a trip to the Nashville Zoo and learned something that changed how I look at our Christmas trees forever. 🦕🌲
Conifers — the same family as the Norway Spruce and Canaan Firs growing on our farm in Smyrna, Tennessee — are one of the oldest plant families on Earth. Dinosaurs walked past trees like these.
Just a fun reminder that the trees growing on our 74 acres have a pretty incredible history. 🎄

As you know we’re building a European-style Christmas market right here near Nashville in Smyrna, Tennessee. And lately I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the food.
We’re going to do waffles. The kind that make you stop walking and just stand there.
Crepes. Because nothing says European Christmas market like a crepe with your people on a cold November night.
Mulled cider. Warm. Spiced. The kind that makes the whole market smell like Christmas.
And fancy hot chocolate. Not the powder in a styrofoam cup kind. The real kind.
And that’s just us. We’ll have food vendors bringing even more goodies. I cannot wait for you to experience this. Annabel Farms Christmas Market — November 2026. Middle Tennessee, this one is for you.

Rutherford County is one of the fastest growing counties in the entire country. Most people around here know what that means — farmland goes, subdivisions come. This is what it looks like to try to stop that on 74 acres in Smyrna, Tennessee. 🌱

Agritourism is the only economic model that makes keeping land open actually pencil out. The land has to pay for itself or the land gets sold. That’s what I’m sitting here solving. One spreadsheet at a time.
