Wow, the weather has been spectacular again and we've been loving every minute of the cooler temperatures and low humidity! It should be nice again tomorrow morning so we'll be at the Liberty Farmers Market (423 W Swannanoa Ave) this Saturday 5/16 from ca. 8:30 to 11 am.

The greens have also been loving the recent weather and they're still looking fantastic! We'll have beautiful heads of Romaine lettuce in addition to mixed salad greens, kale, and collards. We'll also have a variety of native and naturalized pollinator-friendly plants, cut flowers, herbs, radishes, and a limited number of eggs, house plants, and gourd bird houses.

Also, new this Saturday: a small quantity of spring honey from our bees! It's light in color with an earthy, green flavor stemming from the abundance of crimson clover and white clover that have been blooming on the farm. (Remember - please don't spray your clover [or dandelions] because it's a vital food source for honey bees and native bees!)

FYI, we have many more kinds of cooking and tea herbs than what we usually bring to the market. Just let us know ([email protected] or 336-639-4314) if you'd like some lemon thyme, oregano, and/or rosemary (now), or Genovese basil, Thai basil, Stevia, thyme, chives, dill, lemongrass, and/or cilantro (in a few weeks). Currently our spearmint, peppermint, lemon balm, and mountain mint are abundant so that's what we'll bring unless you put in a request.

Enjoy another beautiful day and see you tomorrow morning!

What a relief yesterday's nourishing rain was, and what a glorious day we're having today! We're feeling much relieved for the plants, at least for this week.

We'll be at the Liberty, NC Farmers Market (423 W Swannanoa Ave) tomorrow, Saturday May 9, from ca. 8:30 to 11 am. The rain really refreshed the greens, herbs, and flowers so they're extra hydrated this week. We'll also have eggs, cute French radishes, native wildflowers, house plants, gourd bird houses, herbal tea blends, and more.

Landscaping with Native Plants Workshop
Saturday April 18 from 2 to 4 pm
Snow Camp, NC

Did you know that a whole lot of native plants (and some of their cultivars) are beautiful, hardy, and easy to grow, and they attract gorgeous and beneficial birds, butterflies, bees, and all kinds of other pollinators and critters? Plus, many native plants reproduce easily so you can expand your garden and share plants with friends with minimal up-front costs. There's nothing like standing in the middle of a native-plant garden in early summer hearing and seeing dozens of different species of insects and birds eating and drinking!

Come to the farm to learn about designing and maintaining native-plant gardens and propagating some specific native plants. You'll get to see numerous species of native plants in various stages of growth and learn about their qualities and best growing conditions. We can even develop a basic garden design for you while you're here, and you can leave with some plant starts!

More fainting goat (myotonic goat) kids arrived yesterday! Mom Fabulocity was a champ, delivering her three kids in the pasture and then eventually falling for some food bribes that got her into the barn. Two of these cuties (little black and white Fabian and big black and white Fabbro), plus others, will be for sale with pick up once they're weaned in July. Until then we'll be enjoying seeing their antics!
