They finished planting at 1:30 pm and the rain started falling at 3:30 pm. Over the next 8 hours, we received 4.1 inches of rain.

As hunting season is kicking off……here’s ya sign! Do not leave random things in pastures or traps or pens…..the livestock gets extremely curious and this s**t happens. Fortunately, we rounded up to tag our ewes so the bucket will be removed ASAP but it could be detrimental to any animal. Let’s see which one of our hunters texts us first, to see if it was their group😜

David spent Tuesday afternoon educating and sharing our story with the Sutton County 4-H Skillathon group. Not only did they find out about local lamb, they were also treated with some yummy lamb meatballs from Halbert Farms and raised on our ranch.

On the train from Annecy to Paris, I finished this beautiful book by Helen Whybrow - it gave me all the good feels. Many, many moons ago, I had to run the day to day operations since David had broken his leg in am idiotic accident. It was a wonderful experience. I became one with the land. No finger pointing to give instructions. I got dirty. I learned. I cried. I LOVED it all. I was already working on changes to Halbert Heritage when I stumbled across this book. The stars aligned. My ideas. Her book. It validated the direction I want move in. I want to be more involved in the work side of the ranch so I can share our story. The story of the ranch, the wool and the meat Halbert Farms. Join us along the journey. Grab the book. It is beautiful!
