This little lady found a snare in the fence. The bottom of a fence. Not even a coyote could find it. She did. Fortunately, she only caught her jaw and not her tongue. She was rehabbed at the house pens for a week or so to be sure she could eat and drink. Here she is, in the pasture….munching on some of that tall grass we have been growing in west Texas.

Spring in Texas means snakes BUT not all snakes are bad. This beautiful 6’ long bull snake is a good one.

Do NOT worry, Dulce is fine. She discovered an empty water bucket can be tough competition. Ol Red had Dulce down for the count.

Oh, El Guapo…..he runs a pretty good ranch and provides a plethora (inside joke except since he isn’t on Facebook, he can’t laugh) of information.

Two of the best shearers in the business…..the sheep are calm and compliant because the shearers are calm and respectful. It is a beautiful dance!

Everyone has to start somewhere….how are new shearers supposed to get better if ranchers don’t welcome them to work on their livestock? Fawn worked hard and spent time watching the experienced shearers to learn more about the trade.

As the sheep and goat industry have worked to spotlight the great benefit of livestock guardian dogs, I wanted to share this video (thanks to our hunter Jack) of Beau saving a kid goat again.

The kid was separated from the herd and was crying. Beau found the baby and carried it back to the herd and its momma.

Beau is carrying the kid by the nape and like most kids it is squalling. Goats are very vocal about everything.
