A little sunshine on my breakfast plate. 🍳☀️ These are our own Kallo Farms eggs, and look at those yolks.

There’s science behind that beautiful color. As the USDA explains, yolk color varies with a hen’s diet. Carotenoids—pigments found in foods like grasses, leafy greens, and corn—are absorbed and deposited into the yolk as the egg forms. Pigments including lutein and zeaxanthin help create that golden yellow.

The shade can change with what the hens eat. Color alone doesn’t tell the whole nutritional story, but it certainly makes a beautiful breakfast. 💛
