Well… I wasn’t quite sure what to think😆

For weeks I wondered whether she was pregnant or just getting a little round from enjoying the spring grass, especially since we sold our ram quite a while back. This morning I walked out to the loafing shed and found this handsome little surprise waiting for me!

Lucy quietly lambed overnight and delivered a healthy ram lamb all on her own. Mom and baby are both doing great.

As much as I’d love to keep him, he’ll eventually need a new home since he’s related to the girls in our flock. For now, we’re just enjoying our unexpected addition and letting Lucy soak up all the attention she deserves.

Welcome to the farm, little guy. ❤️🐑

Big day at No Shear Acres & Roost! 🦃

The mixed sweetgrass poults officially moved into their new grow-out pen today.

They’ve traded the brooder for fresh grass, sunshine, and a lot more room to explore. So far they’re loving it!

Most of this group is already spoken for, but we’ve got another hatch due in just a few days. If you’re interested in Sweetgrass poults or mixed sweetgrass poults, feel free to reach out. #

Progress on the new turkey grow-out pen. 🦃

We still have a few finishing touches before it’s ready, but we’re racing the Oklahoma weather tonight.

The poults should have a lot more room to explore soon!

Even the turkeys are looking for shade in this Oklahoma heat! 🦃☀️

Larry and the hens have been spending their afternoons taking it easy and staying cool while temperatures continue to climb.

Despite the heat, the hens have been keeping us busy with fresh eggs, and we’re looking forward to seeing what hatches next from our pasture-raised flock.

Today we said goodbye to Oakley. 🤍

This girl had the sweetest personality and was always one of the first to greet me at the gate. We fought hard for her these last few months. Unfortunately, despite everything, her little body just couldn’t recover.

Farm life can be incredibly rewarding, but days like today are the hard side people don’t always see. Loving livestock means sometimes making the heartbreaking choice to let them go peacefully when they’re suffering.

Run free, Oakley. Thank you for the memories and being part of our farm family.

Turkey poult update 🦃

All of my current full Sweetgrass poults have officially sold (thank you guys SO much 😭).

I still can’t get over all the color variations showing up in this hatch — these little dinosaurs are making it very hard not to keep extras. 😂

I do have another batch in the incubator now from the same heritage group, so I’m excited to see what hatches next. 👀
