Somewhere along the way, my life changed.
There was a time when I could walk past a jewelry counter and think, “Oooooh, pretty.”
Now I walk into Tractor Supply and get that same feeling about a galvanized chicken feeder. 😂
I get excited about fresh eggs.
I have chickens with names, personalities, grudges, best friends and ongoing family drama.
I can identify who laid an egg like some kind of poultry detective.
I’ve stood outside in my pajamas yelling, “CHICK-CHICK-CHICK!” with absolutely no concern about what the neighbors might think.
And somehow, sitting outside with a cup of coffee while a bunch of tiny dinosaurs scratch around in the dirt has become one of my favorite parts of the day.
Maybe this is what happens as you get older.
You stop needing life to be impressive and start realizing how damn good the simple stuff is.
Sunrise. Coffee. Animals you love. A few fresh eggs.
And a chicken running toward you at full speed because she thinks you might have snacks. 😂🐔
Turns out, I’m perfectly happy being this version of me.
