Dr. Mellish has been such a HUGE help to our horses, and I just love her and all the other vets at Keswick. I feel so lucky to have a horse practice with amazing vets, and a dog / cat practice with amazing vets (Blue Ridge Animal Hospital in Culpeper... Dr. Beamer, Dr. Miller, and all the rest!). Those four leggers are H's and my kids, and it means SO MUCH having such outstanding vets there when you need them. Dr. Mellish helped us through a number of situations, and knowing she's on her way is always a load off my shoulders. She is simply awesome! And she also has a great personality, and in stressful situations, that does help!!! She's not only very good at what she knows, but she is very good at keeping things calm. I honestly feel like she and Dr. Schmidt could walk on water yet at the same time, hope I don't have to see either of them anytime soon!
Congratulations to Dr. Mellish! She recently became board certified specialist in Theriogenology (Reproduction). Here she is receiving her diploma at the 2013 Society for Theriogenology conference.
"One puff away from breathing fire" has just become my favorite way to describe the kind of horse that gets into my heart the deepest. One who's full of knowing he or she IS what's going on!

I'm going to admit I'm envious of those folks who have new foals this year! I did not bite the bullet and make anything happen LAST year for this year. I don't miss the nights when we take turns sleeping and watching / listening to the video feed of our maternity ward. I haven't put anything in the works for next year, either, and I like those JANUARY babies best of all honestly (weaned before the bugs start to really bite...). Destiny and Sq**rt are probably hating me right about now.

We're so proud of our stallion, "SQ**RT". We just found out that he is RESERVE CHAMPION NATIONAL ALL STAR in his halter division!!! I bet he gets some extra hugs and cookies today ♥

Long weekend, and a special project in mind. I want H and I to put up some of those neat cattle panel / t-post / tarp shelters in a few of our paddocks as auxillary shelter (all our paddocks have large run-ins or multiple open stalls). I love being a horse person in the fall!!!
