Making progress at James River Road shop today.

Birthing babies came late in my life. Not my own, but livestock. I was a humanities student and teacher. Biology and Physiology not my thing. Then I retired and bought a farm. And sheep. The vet thought I was a crazy cat lady. Who does that? Go from Chaucer to breech birth? Well five years in I have turned lambs, pulled lambs and saved a few who just wouldn’t breathe. Today I feel like a legitimate farmer because someone called in the middle of the night for help with a difficult birth situation. Unfortunately I was asleep and missed the call. But he called. And this morning I was able to help because I knew the answer.

Parked in the lot of James River Road shop and will be towed unfortunately because a parking lot getting started today. I realize that this property has been largely vacant since Bubbas left and folks have parked here, but it’s now Montpelier and I can’t allow that. If anyone knows who owns this please notify asap. Before the tow truck comes.

How are you going to do that? A question often asked of me in regards of opening a shop. This question repeats throughout my life because I tend to go left when everyone else goes right. But I have a plan. And good support. In this case I saw a need, understood the philosophy and did my homework. My family is academically well rounded and give sound, if not always solicited, advice. This is more of a movement. Something that brings us together as a community. And I know food. So this morning twelve more little Bresse and Bresse mix chicks have hatched because eggs are needed. And that shop opens soon!

What is the difference between stock and broth? I have been asked this several times and as I am currently emptying our freezer to accept fresh chicken and turkey, I am thinking about both. I make a lot of stock here and think that more people would do so if they knew how easy it is. And it freezes well. So attached here is a very good how to. And I needed a sweater this morning.
