With good news also comes some bad news. We found her this morning BUT she has a broken leg 😭 Rick and I both liked her too 😞 she was a good little heifer. He has intended to bring all the little heifers to the home farm but it’s been raining everyday and it’s too wet to get the trailer up the hill to get them and we don’t want to end up like we did this past winter, stuck!
He’s prob going to have to sell her 😭😭😭

In other Vaughan farm news

🐣🐥it’s hatching day… we have three so far! I messed up in the settings when we set the eggs this time and I think some have gotten shrink wrapped. Oops. The turner wasn’t set on auto. Sooo we get what we get this round.

Meep meep…We saw a roadrunner on our way out of the farm this morning! It’s always fun to see them as there aren’t many anymore bc they get caught by predators. They are so fast though!

☀️🛺 We are meeting up with friends this afternoon, having what sounds to be a buffet of yummy food and going on a SXS ride!!!

Lots going on this weekend!!! Ricks kids were all home this weekend. We celebrated Rick’s birthday and Zack’s birthday! It was nice to see the boys!

Today, Sunday we rearranged cattle. Took two pairs and a couple bull calf’s to the sale barn and took BULLY, our bull to the farm in Mayfield with the heifers to breed one last time. We have to get the youngins back over here to the house yet but it’s suppose to be a wet stormy week and putting then in the corral would become a muddy mess! So we are waiting till next weekend.

We also had our second batch of chicks hatch this weekend! So cute! Third batch is going in as soon as the incubator regulates! 11 of the next eggs I got from someone else so I’m excited to see what we get!

We also planted some plants and transfers some of our seedlings in to larger containers… went to sit out on the deck tonight to enjoy this weather and the radishes have aphids so I washed them off with some soapy water… 🙄 always something…

Bitter sweet weekend as kids come and go, Rick’s last couple oldest cows are gone but the market is unbelievable right now and the return will be great! Plants growing and getting bigger! I’m not quite the vegetable gardener that I’d like to be but am leaning every year as we keep trying.
