In the last 48 hours we received 2 emergency calls about goats. Things happen with goats, and they can go down hill FAST. Sometimes you can catch it and fix the problem, and sometimes you can't. These calls were NOT the result of neglect or anything done on purpose, things just happened.
Here is a little advice if you have or plan to get goats...
Keep probiotic paste on hand, it's great for all kinds of animals and it keeps their gut healthy! You cannot give too much of this!
Vitamin B can be very important, and can be given as a regular supplement, or when needed.
Safeguard dewormer, this can also be given to most animals, but the doses are different. This can be given regularly, or as needed.(We give as needed)
Most livestock needs free access to hay, and all animals need clean water.
One last point... On especially hot days you can add some unflavored Pedialyte to your animals drinking water to help prevent dehydration.
