Tonight’s Theme Time was exactly what bluegrass is all about!

We dusted off the classic instrumental “Theme Time,” a tune made famous by Jimmy Martin and banjo legend Bill Emerson. Originally used as the theme song for Martin’s radio show, it has become one of the most recognizable banjo instrumentals in bluegrass history and a favorite among pickers everywhere!

This video captures the energy and drive that make the tune so much fun to play. From the banjo kickoff to the signature chord changes and stops, “Theme Time” always gets musicians grinning and audiences tapping their feet.

Looking forward to doing it all again next time!

What a weekend!

Spent the weekend at the Folky Fish Fest in Maramec Spring Park, surrounded by great music, great friends, and more bluegrass picking than anyone could ask for. From the morning jams under the pavilion, the Wernick Method Jam Classes/Camps to the late-night circles that kept rolling long after dark, there was music everywhere you turned.

The festival brought together an amazing mix of musicians, songwriters, campers, and music lovers. Whether you were on stage, in a workshop, or gathered around a jam circle, there was a real sense of community that made the weekend special.

One of the highlights was seeing pickers of all ages and skill levels jump into the circle, share tunes, learn from each other, and keep the tradition alive. Even the local wildlife seemed to enjoy the music! 🐢🎶

A huge thank you to everyone who organized, performed, volunteered, and participated. Events like this don’t happen without a lot of hard work and a lot of people who love acoustic music.

Already looking forward to next year’s Folky Fish Festival. Until then, we’ll keep the tunes rolling and the jam circles growing.

🎻 Reminder: The 4 Hands Bluegrass Jam is NEXT WEEK! 🎻

Due to the Texas Rangers vs. St. Louis Cardinals series this week, our monthly bluegrass jam at 4 Hands Brewing is moving from its usual 1st Wednesday slot to the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
