About 3 hours of beekeeping duties on this pleasant April day. As 3rd year beekeepers we are thrilled to have quickly grown to 6+ hives. All hives made it through winter, packed with bees and full of food for the hungry new spring brood. So many bees in fact that we’ve made 5 splits, plan to have nucs for sale soon. Have confirmed one mated queen in one nuc and today found 3 virgin queens in one walk away split and re-distributed them where they were needed. Will check on them in a week.
For the non-beekeepers this all means that the bees are thriving and the honey will start flowing in soon! 🍯

Spring update! It’s all good news. The hives are all thriving and packed with bees ready to start filling those honey supers over the next few months. If you’re ready to re-stock your honey supply stay tuned as the season progresses. 🍯

I wasn’t brave enough to enter any of the honey categories just yet, but I did enter my cross-stitch and won a 5th place ribbon 😊

Cost is $60 per adult, $110 for a couple. Cost includes a new copy of The Beekeepers Handbook for you to keep, full day of instruction in classroom, a second hands on day at a local apiary, and a year of Jefferson County Beekeepers Association membership. ‘Tis the season to boost your immune system! Homegrown elderberries cultivated on our property plus organic spices. All you need to add is water and raw local honey! 🍯
It’s as easy as empty the pouch, simmer, strain, cool, add honey and enjoy. I like mine added to morning coffee or in my water bottle.
Full instructions on the back. Makes 2 cups. Can easily freeze in ice cubes to use as needed throughout the season.
