THIS.
A customer came to the farm to see her beef before he goes to the butcher tomorrow.
She bought a whole beef that will feed her family for the next year. And before he left our farm, she wanted to see him for herself, bless him, and thank God for the nourishment he will provide her family.
Somewhere along the way, we became incredibly disconnected from our food.
Meat became a package. Milk became a jug. Eggs became a carton.
And when we stopped seeing the land, the animals and the farmers behind our food, we stopped asking questions too.
Where did this come from?
How was it raised?
What kind of life did it have?
What am I supporting with my dollars?
She didn’t have to come today.
She wanted to know.
And I think there’s something really powerful about that.
Gratitude for the animal. Respect for the life that will nourish her family. And a desire to actually see what she’s choosing to support.
I want more of that.
More families standing in pastures. More kids knowing farmers. More people asking questions and seeing the answers with their own eyes.
Because every dollar we spend on food supports a way of farming, a way of raising animals and a way of caring for the land.
This is the community I never knew I would get to build, and I love it so much.
People who want more than food.
They want connection.
They want transparency.
They want to know.
Every meal comes from somewhere.
Every dollar supports something.
Maybe it’s time we started caring deeply about both.
