It's that time of year again! Our Linden (or Basswood) is flowering, and all the pollinators are abuzz! Our bees are enjoying this special brief treat. Everything on this tree is edible - the flowers, leaves, and even the berries, which can be used to make a faux chocolate. We use the flowers and leaves to make a delightful soothing herbal tea. We should have some ready in the next couple of weeks!

If you've been out to our place recently you'll have noticed the sheep moving up along the driveway. In the past few years we have hayed this field, but with a growing flock we needed the extra pasture. This is just the start of exciting growth to come!

What's for dinner? We had rabbit in cream sauce tonight! The rabbit was raised right here on our farm, the cream and Parmesan for the sauce came from our Jersey girls, the spinach came from our garden, and our chickens supplied the eggs for the homemade Spätzle. If you have always wanted to try rabbit, let us know! We have a batch that is currently at butcher size.

Our Snookie girl had a beautiful heifer calf yesterday on Memorial Day. She is just the cutest! The milk will be flowing soon!

I've been busy baking up some delicious buttermilk brat buns for our special tomorrow at the ! $2 off if you buy a package of lamb brats and buns together, tomorrow only! The view from the kitchen this afternoon was an added bonus!

This is Marie. She decided that after a nice bath in the rain she was a bit too clean. So she found the nearest gopher mound and went to work. Marie is hanging out with the sheep until this fall when she can be bred to our bull!
