Since weaning, these boys have packed on some pounds, so it was time to get updated weights and permanent identification. First, we trim the hair around their ears, then tattoo them, and rub in the ink to make sure those numbers are legible in the future.

Ear tattoos provide lifelong identification and help maintain accurate pedigrees and records, which is especially important in registered cattle.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms out there — the ones raising families, building dreams, and keeping everything running with love and strength every single day.

Today we are also thankful for the hardworking momma cows that are the heart of our program. From raising the next generation to building the foundation of our registered Angus operation, these females are what keep The 909 Ranch growing year after year.

Here is to the mothers — both in the pasture and at home — who make it all possible. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at The 909 Ranch!

Moments like this never get old. We take a lot of pride in how our cattle are handled every day, and it shows in their calm, curious nature.

Calves are officially weaned and settling in together away from their mommas—never the easiest transition, but a necessary one for strong, healthy growth.

We administered CattleZen to the calves to help reduce stress during the process. Lower stress at weaning can support better intake and overall performance.

On the cow side, we scored claw, angle, and BCS (body condition score), also getting updated weights and heights to keep our Angus data sharp and the EPD’s accurate.

Lastly, everyone received new fly tags to keep them comfortable moving into warmer weather.
