So what do beekeepers do once the bees settle in for the colder weather and there's no more honey to sell at the farmer's markets? Aside from making sure the hives have everything they need to make it through the winter, most beekeepers spend hundreds of hours holed up in a shed or workshop assembling supers and frames for anticipated new hives next spring or to replace worn-out equipment.

Lydia and I hope to add 5 or 6 new hives next spring, bringing our total to twenty (the number we have determined will be our limit). As we assemble equipment to house the new hives, we also collect and sterilize used honey jars and attend to our social media accounts and website. We do anything and everything to make sure the bees (and us) are ready for the coming spring. Most importantly, we also lay awake during the coldest winter nights praying for the bees! Please pray with us!

Lydia and I want to thank everyone who has supported Weeks Honeybees, LLC in 2022. It turns out that retirement can be a lot of hard but satisfying work! Your prayers and encouragement have kept us going.

While the 2022 honey season is over and we won't be seeing many of you at the farmer's markets until next June, we will stay busy watching over the beehives through the winter and preparing new hives for the spring.

We plan on returning to the Verona and Waynesboro weekly farmer's markets in June 2023 with a new and increased crop of honey. Please keep us in your prayers. We'll be selling our honey at the Waynesboro Farmer's Market this Saturday,, October 8th from 9am until 1. We anticipate selling out of this past summer's honey harvest by mid-November... so stock up now!
