Bunny therapy,finding a home
Well Facebook on my case to post sommething again. Route 66 has been in my blood, being born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. Every employment I have had, always been on Route 66 alignment, except one. 1969-1971 was School teacher in Florissant, Mo. One block north of Route 66 Bypass (Dunn Rd). As an insurance agent in Granite City, Illinois 1983 to 1999 on Nameoki Rd (1926-1930 alignment). My present location from 1988. Never knew at time for few years, that the road on East side of my property was 1930-1940 alignment. It goes on. Ever here ask me more on. Our 8 bunnies right now all doing fine. This is our 24th year doing the Route 66 thing hare. Bunnies been part of for last 129. Started with 15, reached high point in 2003 of 49. If you haven't ever been hare, stop in sometime. If you have, come back for some more humor. Hope everyone has a good 2018 !! Rich and the Rest !!
Facebook says I need to post some on Henrys Rabbit Ranch Page. Big Red shown here on Wednesday will mark the 5th anniversary of his suddenly passing. We miss you Big Guy and be looking forward to seeing You and Rest at Rainbown Bridge someday.

Pictures of Hubert
Meet our newest family member, Hubert, named after my Father. He was rescued here in Staunton, Illinois, four weeks ago.
From all of us Hare at Henrys Rabbit Ranch,
Previous post from Feb 10th, 2016, was when Guy passed away leaving his soulmate Henri behind. Bunny in that picture with Guy though was Destiny. In today's picture, it is showing Henri (red one) with his new soulmate. Her name is Smokee. They bonded three days ago. They really enjoy being together. Guy had taught Henri. Now Henri passes it on to Smokee. So in a way Guy lives on in both ot them. Precious memories. Destiny is the Big Red one in both backgrounds. If you are not out already, get out and enjoy the day. Rich and the rest !!
On February 10, 2016, we lost our little white with black markings and oldest bunny Guy to the Rainbow Bridge. Last six months, his health condition slowly went down, but until the end he did not give up. Many fond memories we hold. He was very impressionable to the travelers and locals for the 8 1/2 years he, since he was rescued in 2007. He was around 10 to 11 years old and had a good life. His most recent soumate Henri misses him. Till later little Guy take care !! Rich and the rest !!
Three siblings last Fall, wishing that Spring was closer. Now it is, so maybe another 2-3 months and they can be back outside terrorizing the Route 66 travelers. Hop everyone had a nice Christmas and a good New Year in the works. All of us at Henrys Ra66it Ranch !!
Again Face book is on us to post something. Since last post the temperatures hare in Staunton have decreased over twenty degrees with much lower humidity as well. The bunnies have been spending much time in their outside condos (kennels). Taking them out and back in is good exercise for me. Hopefully someone will like this post !!
Facebook told me to create a post so people will still know we are hare and alive. Our bunnies are chilling out inside with the outside temperatures reaching around 100 degrees with a heat index of about 110+. Maybe this winter's picture of Snortin Norton will cool things down a little. Stay cool, stay calm !! Rich and the rest !!
Phoenix is celebrating his two year anniversary hare. Our picture was in a church service in 2013, we attended. We both need more church for sure. Early December, 2014, Phoenix had surgery and successfully had a bad lung removed. Still recovering. Hop in and see the Big little Guy on your next trip close by !!.
Looks like another nice year 2015 for Route 66 and its travelers. The bunnies are hare and waiting !!
Big Red was not our first Santa hare. His predecessor Queen Montana was Santa in 2007. In 2006 she kept bugging me to see Santa Claus. So in December, 2006, off we go to St Louis HOuse Rabbit Society meeting, where Santa was going to be. She had here picture proudly taken with him. Before Christmas, 2007, I asked if she wanted to see Santa again. Her reply was,"Nope, been there done that". At that point I let it drop. You did not want to keep asking Montana, the same question daily. Few days later, I came in, heard this "Merry Christmas", looked on the counter and there she was with her little Santa hat on. Had she lived to 2008 Christmas, we can only surmise what she would have done. I think Queen Montana would have got her Santa hat on, found Santa's sleigh parked somewhere with the reindeers attached and Santa gone, and hopped on, grabbed the reins and off they would have went and to all a good night.
Merry Christmas from all of us at Henrys Ra66it Ranch
Dear 66 friends,
Have had few people asking about a memorial donation in behalf of Big Red. Some have already contributed to the House Rabbit Society of St Louis, Mo. Big Red was adopted thru there in April, 2010. The St Louis Humane Shelter with a court order, originally confiscated him and 132 other bunnies. A so-called breeder was keeping them in outside cages, no overhead protection from the weather and the conditions were deplorable. With him the rest is history here.
If you desire to do so, it is user friendly, go to http://hrsmostl.org. When home page comes up look to leftside column and hit on donation button. After hitting on it, will take you to donations page. Scroll all the way down to bottom and hit on donation button. Next page will ask for payment type, credit card or paypal. After completing that info and hitting appropriate button, takes you to final page. In instructions to sell box type in "Big Red's Memorial". Then finish off on that page as instructed.
The House Rabbit Society of St Louis Mo is a 501C-3 non-profit organization. Your contribution is fully tax deductible. Currently they have over 130 bunnies at their Fenton, Mo shelter. This does not include ones being foster cared in individual homes thru out the St Louis and East metropolitan area. Any donation in Big Red's memory would be greatly appreciated.
Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers !!
From all of us at Henrys Ra66it Ranch
Big Red peacefully passed away during his sleep last night. Total surprise to us. We miss him greatly already. I look forward to the day meeting up with him and all our rest at the Rainbow Bridge. Till later little buddie !!
