Partaking in the ancient tradition of harvesting before the big freeze ❄️

Ready for a break, tbh.

Queso would like to let you know that the spring pullets have started laying and the eggs are plentiful right now. And oh so clean because it’s not muddy 🙌🏼

Whether it’s more animals or meeting Bob from marketplace for a free picnic table, you know my answer is always yes 😂

What a weird growing season.

The annuals were late, and some never even bloomed. The berries were not plentiful. The fruit bearing trees all froze in June and didn’t set any fruits. It was warm early, then very wet, then VERY HOT, then wet again, then smoky and hot, then very wet, then nice, and then it froze.

And that wasn’t just here.

If you’re looking for apples, most of the orchards are barren. My friends at Swanson’s Mountain View Orchard eked out with 20% of their typical harvest. Much more than the majority or commercial and home orchards in the area.

Tomorrow is Apple day in Hamilton. If you’re looking for something to do, stop by and visit a farmer that needs your support now even more than ever. Every apple sale counts for them.

And if you’re looking for the famous fresh pressed Swanson’s Apple C***r, you’ll find it at apple day. And if there’s any left, it’ll be at their pack shed and store front. You can also find some fall wreaths at the store too. They’re pretty cute. I know the farmer who made them 😉
