We’re slowly chipping away at our spring cleaning of the farm. I wish I could identify all of the organisms that grow on the bags over the winter, but there’s only so much time in a day! My google lens suggested that the colorful organism on the bottom is called orange sea pork, which made my day for some reason.

As I switch out the bags, I like to imagine how stoked the oysters must feel to be in the water without all that extra baggage. Who doesn’t like to shed their winter weight?

With the warmer weather I’ll be able to flip the cages and leave them upside down to dry. This process majorly cuts down on unwanted biofouling, a win-win for the oysters and the farmer.

Every oyster that we harvest is hand selected by weight and shape. Does it take forever? Yes. Is our method efficient? That’s a big fat no.

We take pride in what we do, and we hope we’re providing high quality oysters that our consumers want to write home about…. even though people totally don’t do that anymore.
