🍷 NV Rémy Nodin, “Cuvée Ernest” Saint Péray , Northern Rhône Valley

Sparkling Wine from the Northern Rhône Valley that has a reputation for France’s best sparkling Wines outside of Champagne. Made from a blend of 2019 and 2018 vintages, the wine is made from about 80 % Marsanne grapes & 20 % Roussanne vinified in stainless steel tanks. This wine is not given any sugar dosage known as Brut Nature. Try with oysters, Salmon or Fruit Tart.

🍷 2020 Domaine Sébastien Giroux Pouilly Fuissé Les Raidillons Mâconnais, Burgundy

Sébastien Giroux took over his family’s winery in 2009, after a career as a race car driver. The winery is small at about 11 acres and produces only white wines from the Chardonnay grape variety. The wines are all farmed Organically with organic certification starting in 2023 vintage. A medium bodied, fleshy and vibrant wine, this wine is from a single vineyard Raidillons. A wine with chalky grip and a penetrating finish, highly precise.

🍷 2017 Château Clarisse Puisseguin Saint Emilion Bordeaux

Château Clarisse was purchased in 2009 by Didier Le Calvez whose background was operating luxury hotels all over the world, including Georges V & Le Bristol of Paris. His wife Olivia and Didier purchased 5 hectares in Puisseguin , just outside of the most famous wine region of Saint Emilion, in Bordeaux. The winery works with top enologists in Bordeaux, including the winemaker Vincent Bussière, who also works 50% of the time for Château Le Pin, Pomerol, the most expensive wine in the world! Certified Organic since the 2019 vintage, The Puisseguin Saint Emilion is made from a blend of Merlot & Cabernet Franc.

It's Monday night, so we've got something special by the glass at Esters.

Tonight we're pouring a complex skin contacted white from an absolute master of soulful orange wines. Expect a complex nose of dried fruit and herbs to give way to layers of fresh ripe fruits before a long, drying and pleasantly bitter finish.

In 1993, long before most American wine drinkers were familiar were using terms like 'natural' or 'orange' wine, Dario Princic founded his eponymous label in Friuli, just steps from the Slovenian border. Taking over family vineyards that had previously seen their fruit sold off to larger cooperatives, Dario had already stopped using any chemical inputs in 1988, and his commitment to quality, and to showcasing classic native varietals and to "not using anything his grandfather wouldn't recognize" led him to begin experimenting with extended maceration for his white grapes, and after the 1999 vintage he stopped making wines any other way. Today he ferments in open top barrels, some of which he makes himself from local wood, macerating and aging each wine without a strict recipe, as long as he feels is necessary to let the wine express itself fully. This wine he calls 'Jakot'. The varietal is technically Friulano, Jakot being a backwards spelling of Tokaj, a term now forbidden to be used for Italian wines, which is its own story. We can't wait to share this new release from one of our favorite natural winemakers this week.
