The Great Guinea Experiment was not what you would call a success. The lone survivor, Tweedledum(ber) was very lonely. Today I picked him up 6 new friends, he was so happy that he got in the cat carrier with them.
These guineas are almost grown and are good flyers, so hopefully they can stay out of trouble!

And then there were two😭
I give up with these Guineas... they were perfectly safe inside the coop and then one stuck his head out of the run fencing and promptly got it bitten off....I swear these are the hardest creatures to keep safe..

I swear these Guineas have a death wish...we let them out this morning they hung around in the barn for a bit, waddled around the fields and then when it was time to go back to the coop they took off...ran into the deep woods and wouldn't come back. No sight of them for hours.
I ran all over the fields yelling for them this evening to find out that the little stinkers put themselves back in the hen house. So Guineas safe and secure for the night!

Sad update on guineas, coyotes came back....
Out of our original 12 we only have 3 left..we spent yesterday rebuilding the run after the bear destroyed it. Saw the bobcat sniffing around last night but he couldn't get in. The mother bear was on our neighbors property, she has 3 cubs which may be why she came for the guineas..

The word is out that guinea is on the menu, in just 3 days we've had a bobcat and a bear, now a coyote is stalking the flock. My poor guineas 😥

All Guineas present and correct for breakfast - well, the ones that survived the bobcat and the bear😥

The remaining Guineas did fine through the night. Had to let them out last night as the bear destroyed one side of the coop. If he came back they could not escape. They headed to the thick trees to roost.
They were happy to see us this morning!

My poor guineas can't catch a break...locked up in the coop and now a bear breaks in. He managed to make a hole underneath the coop. One more Guinea gone...so sad....
We're at the farm now. Lance has his gun...not to shoot the bear...just scare it off if we need to..
