👏👏👏And just like that at the community banded together to reunite tortoise and human. Her people have been found! So what it’s one in the morning this job doesn’t punch a clock🤦🏼‍♀️😂👏👏👏

We asked for multiple photos and determined with out a doubt she was the tortoise they were missing. Turtle butt prints are very individualized and a great way to distinguish individuals from others.

She traveled over ten miles in route to go back home. Her people recently moved and she dug her way out determined to be back where she thought she belonged. And at 1:30 this morning, she was reunited and finally back where she belongs!!

Thank you to everyone who spread the word helping this message to be seen and this girl to find her way home. A huge shout out to her owners who have done an amazing job raising her to be strong and healthy!!

It’s time to FACE YOUR FEARS.

Get up close and personal with snakes, spiders, lizards, creepy crawlies and some of the animals people fear most, while learning what makes them far more fascinating than frightening.

Phobia Night is an immersive, educational, hands-on experience designed to challenge fears, bust myths and give guests the opportunity to interact with incredible animals in a completely different way.

Throughout the month of October, we’re bringing Phobia Nights to breweries, events, parties, schools, camps & more!

Meet pod 49a! Lead by their gorgeous forty year old matriarch, Nan. The pod has 6 Orcas her five sons and one daughter. Nat, Neptune, Nimbus, Nebula the only recorded daughter and Charlie 2. Their Latin name is Orcinus Orca Together, the scientific name loosely means a "whale from the underworld" or a barrel-shaped predator tied to the realm of the dead.

Their gestation period is 17 months. Nan’s last baby was born about a year ago which is probably her last child. Whales and some wild populations of primates are the only species other than humans that go through menopause.

These are transient Orcas just off the Canadian coast.

This cute little guy might look like Alvin but he’s not a chipmunk 🐿️! Meet one of my new little buddies the striped ground squirrel. He lives on top of Mount Rainier in Washington State. It doesn’t seem to matter where I go in this world the creatures find me, and I love every moment of it.

So many of the hikers on that mountain trail pointed and said “Who are you Snow White?” It was like I never left. Still helping kids and adults befriend these funny little creatures. I

Let me know if you’d like to see more of this trip to Washington! We experience so much of this life together. It’s gorgeous out here but the forest fires 🔥 are close enough to see the glow over the mountains and the smoke moves as the wind changes direction.

A female jumping spider can mate ONE TIME… and continue having babies without ever seeing that male again. 😳

Female jumping spiders have specialized s***m-storage organs called s***mathecae (spur-MATH-uh-see).

After mating, she can store viable s***m and use it later to fertilize multiple egg sacs
meaning one successful date can potentially result in several rounds of babies over the months that follow. 🕷️🕷️🕷️

So if you bring home an adult female jumping spider and she suddenly makes a fertile egg sac…

And then ANOTHER one…

And then another one…

Congratulations. Her ex left her with a supply. 😂😭🕷️

One successful mating can provide enough stored s***m to fertilize multiple egg sacs without her ever mating again.

Nature really said “save some for later.” 😂

Ever wonder why there’s a SNAKE on a symbol used for medicine and healthcare?

Meet the Rod of Asclepius ⚕️ — a symbol that dates back to ancient Greece and is still associated with medicine and healing today.

Asclepius (uh-SKLEE-pee-us) was the Greek god of medicine and healing, and his symbol was a staff with a single snake wrapped around it. 🐍

Snakes have long been associated with renewal and healing, often linked to their ability to shed their skin and emerge renewed — making them a pretty fitting symbol for medicine.

And here’s a fun one 👀:

⚕️ ONE snake + ONE staff = Rod of Asclepius
☤ TWO snakes + wings = Caduceus

The two are commonly confused, but the caduceus was actually the staff of Hermes and wasn’t originally a medical symbol!

So next time you see ⚕️, remember…

Reptiles have been representing healthcare for a LONG time. 😂🐍⚕️

And apparently this little guy was just making sure the paramedics were properly represented. 😂
