We have several cockerels (roosters) here at the farm in our 3.5 month old age group. See the breed list below:

These are 3.5 months old and are in great shape for anyone needing roosters. Low price point of $6.00 (or less for large quantity orders).

We are looking for a farm or buyer who’s interested and willing to take all of our cockerels each month. Expectations are this farm or individual would come once a month and take all cockerel/roosters (6 weeks old or older) that are on farm. The labor around here has a sense of humor. “Your Mom” is an expression the boys are vested in using lately in their responses to everything seems like. The door on this brooder locks from the outside. The “Help!!!” was written when one of them got locked in. You guys use your imagination on the other window panes.

Yes we need to clean those windows but wanted to share we “work hard play hard” around here.

BROODER ROW

We’ve spent a many an hour in this alleyway. Between our (2) grow out barns is where our (4) brooder buildings stand. Each capable of brooding 300-400 chicks each. These brooders rarely rest. We rotate new batches through these buildings every 5-6 weeks year around!We have (2) work tables to clean and refill waterers and store equipment.

Each brooder is its own system in itself. Each building is insulated, windows for ventilation fans, outlets for lights, heat lamps and power for anything else. Each have 8-12 waterers and feeders that are maintained daily. From moisture and temperature control, monitoring bird behavior, and maintaining a clean environment - the majority of the work in our birds is spent in those first 5 weeks. A good start dictates their performance for the rest of their lives!

The alleyway is wide enough for our truck to transport chicks or haul in equipment or feed. If we’re out there choring barns - you’ll find us in brooder row!

This includes a 10 week, 5 week, 2 week and 1 week old batches. It’s a great time of year to start or replenish those flocks and have them prime come Spring!

We are grinding here at Hoffman’s Poultry. We’ve put our heads down, locked in, and have been starting batches. We have (4) age groups, 1500+ chickens and another 1,200 arriving in October. Slow year? Yes. But we are doubling down and growing our inventory to bring the market the best started pullets in North Texas. We are feeling the market is about to make a turn. I do it anyways! A phrase you have to keep running through your head come the dog days of summer in August. It would be easy to take a break and start back up when it cools off in the Fall. The pullet/hen business doesn’t work that way. Customers want those older pullets or laying hens ready to go in the fall/winter. The chicks we start today is literally the inventory we’re building to satisfy Spring 2027 demand. It starts now. Here we’re cleaning out brooders for 635 new day old chicks arriving this week!
