First test pull of the 2026 the garlic harvest. Looks like we’re just about there! We have one bed of this German Extra Hardy and one of Music, about 100 bulbs of each. If they all look like this, we’d be in for a bumper crop, but the Music is even bigger!

No vampires here!

Hoe, hoe, hoe!!

6 rows of potatoes at about 30 feet long each for a total of 180 linear feet. If I average a half pound per foot, that’s 90 pounds of potatoes.

Potatoes go good with just about everything.

Farmer ingenuity.

I had to repair the water trough for the pig pen. Last year’s batch chewed a hole through the bottom, and being that I’ve now repaired this a third time, I’ve upgraded. Maybe next year I’ll do a complete rebuild. Anyway…
I took a piece of old metal roofing, hammered it flat, and lined the new bottom of the trough with it. It should discourage them from chewing on it, and it will be easier to keep clean.
I like a clean pig.
Clean pigs taste better.
They are so cute at this stage.

Let’s talk again in a few days.

Franks Redhot pickled eggs.

I was sent this recipe and said, why the heck not?!!? I had all the ingredients on hand (including plenty of eggs), so I went for it. By the time the third egg landed in the quart jar I could see the lies… the recipe was wrong. Being resourceful (and having boiled a half dozen eggs anyway), I grabbed a “pint and a half” jar and plowed onward. 6 eggs fit perfectly, and I simply filled the jar with water, then poured it off to get my Franks and vinegar measurement, which was 1 1/2 cups. I went with a strong 3/4 cup of Franks in the pint jar, then topped it off with white vinegar until I hit 1 1/2 cups, and gave that a good stir before pouring it over the eggs.
It looks good. I’ll give it a few days. Since the recipe was full of lies, maybe a week. I’ve got more eggs, I’ve got more hot sauces, this could become a thing.

I like eggs, I like Franks Redhot, what’s not to like? (My recipe is in the comments)

Do you like pickled eggs?

Egg-straction: Part 2

Dark and dirty.

I know this video is dark. And grainy. And landscape. I forgot a light, forgot I’d filmed the first part in portrait and dropped a nut along the way. I’m a farmer, not a cinematographer. Don’t come for me.

I’ll get better.

How many eggs do you think I hauled out of there?
