One of the biggest lessons I've learned as a small business journey is to be kind to other small business owners.
I'll be honest... before kids I was a mean girl. I let competition get into my head, worried too much about what other people were selling, & thought protecting my business meant seeing other businesses as a threat. All it got me was stress, lost customers, & lessons I honestly needed to learn. The truth is, multiple people can sell the same thing without it taking anything away from anyone's business. There is room for everyone.
Not to mention you never truly know why someone is doing what they're doing, what they're going through, or what they're trying to provide for their family. We live in an economy where simply getting by is hard, & sometimes people are doing the absolute most just to make ends meet & honestly, most of the time, I don't even blame them. I'm learning that there's enough room for everyone to grow, and I'd much rather be known for being kind, supportive, & genuine rather than known for being the person who felt threatened by someone else's success.
& before the “omg did you see what she said” starts NO. THIS POST IS NOT DIRECTED AT ANOTHER SMALL BUSINESS. This post is for the customers that are under the comment sections of small businesses, RIPPING THEM APART. This is for MY customers that say “did you see so & so started selling” This is for everyone that is being so ugly at the old & new small business’s popping out. Talking about where people live, their families, THIER BODIES! It’s insane & I might get a lot of backlash for this post considering I am absolutely no one to talk but,, guys… be so fr these are people & yall are being mean & someone needed to say enough is enough. Ease up some. 😔
