We unfortunately lost little Mini this afternoon. She started having trouble breathing and slipped away very quickly afterwards. Loved having the time we did to make her first and last days comfy.

(Keeping this a surprise from the girls as they are visiting grandparents and there's always the chance she doesn't survive.)

We are at almost 12 hours with this little bundle of joy that the cat distribution system provided us with. She has had a little wipe down/brush down bath, has a nice cozy heating pad, is eating the kitten formula well - passing the kitten formula well, and has blessed us with a few squeaky meows when getting hungry.

No sign of mama or any other babies and we had to bring her in because of flies and thunderstorms. She had likely been out there alone for at least a couple hours already. Will keep searching for her family tomorrow and get her to the vet as soon as we can to get her checked over.

If she stays healthy and thriving we will slowly add her to the menagerie. Already looking up how to socialize her as a single kitten so we are prepared!

Doesn't quite replace the Wyandottes we lost but they should be fully feathered just in time for it to get cold!

The 7 remaining not-so-babies are now fully part of the flock and roosting with the older chickens now!

We lost 5 babies to a racoon due to the door to the chicken yard being left open last night. This is a learning opportunity for the kids unfortunately as to WHY that is one of their chores.

Starting to integrate! In a couple weeks we'll have both sides cleaned and available to all and everybody will be getting along. 🤞
