"Good Work."

Aaron's swim coach told him "good work" on his swimming today. I replayed that video over and over because of my joy seeing him swim in 12ft of water but Cam's words of "good work" stood out to me. He didn't say good job. He said good WORK.

Work. It is something that can be very hard to do especially when it seems you will be doing it all alone. So many times I've seen a task laid before me and opted to either roll up my sleeves and get to it or simply grab my things and move on. Cam had to push Aaron off the diving board today or else it would be another week of him running off. This time, I grabbed our in-house swim coach, Ariana, and we went over to encourage him. While he still needed a gentle push, the pride on his face when he finally got out of the pool was one that proved he knew he could do hard things. He simply needed a nudge (and support). He worked for this accomplishment. Scared and all, he did it.

My kids continue to teach me about being scared but doing the work anyway. I am often amazed at their resiliency although I know it comes from me doing life with them. They put me to work. But those words today really hit home mainly because work is often ongoing and tiresome. It can go unnoticed and it can oftentimes lead to uncomfortable growth.

I think of the work that was done for me and the unfinished work. The work I didn't say thank you for. The work I overlooked. My own work. Then I think of:

How I need a big push at times.
How I stare adversity in the face and determine to dive anyway, even if I go at it alone.
How sometimes I really just needed support and encouragement.
How I hope my Comforter meets me at the end of my lap and tells me "good work".

I want to submit work that can make me and my Father in Heaven proud. Good, Faithful Work.

Morning, good people.

Monday is gone. Ain't a thing you can do about it.
But today, you get to do the things you said you were gonna do and do them with EXCELlence.

How:

Focus on one small change, one small win, one small shift in perspective as this can lead to major improvements over time.

Monitor the journey of your thoughts. They can sometimes lead you astray. Command them to stay on task and in the moment.

Get dressed. If all the world's a stage then dress for your part.

Make time for the sun and some water today. I don't know how it all works but on the days that I walk and get high noon sunlight, my mind just feels better the rest of the day.

Here we go!!

Finally, I am about to enjoy my Christmas gift. I had just purchased two common use coupes days earlier. Now, I have some that I will hand wash and safely put away until next use!

I feel odd having things so delicate or special around. Tip toeing around the items, afraid they'll break. I used to think that saving things for special occasions were best. Now, I fully understand that today IS the special occasion.

Drink the good wine out of the good glasses in your pajamas or favorite dress on a quiet Tuesday night hust because. Do something special for the moment you're in NOW. You don't have to wait.

Also, check out the wrapper the box came in!

"All my life, I had to fight".
came to mind while getting this wax off! Geez it took some time but I got it off. I almost walked away but I ran back to it to try again. So glad I did too because this red blend was soooo delicious. 2017 Big Basin Vineyards Altitude 2292 out of Monterey County. I always suggest blende to newer red wine drinkers because it's such a great way to experience the best of those grapes IMO. I don't want Cab Franc on its own but if it's in a blend, I'm gonna get it. So, try new things and see what else you might like!

This one was explosive with ripe fruits, blueberries and blackberries came to mind, specifically the juice of those berries. Some time to breathe would make it really smooth. I enjoyed this and am so glad I bought three bottles from .

Ahhhhh. Every now and then, I find a white wine that just soothes me. This one is definitely a soother. A 2020 Cháteau de Nages. It's a Rhone Blend of grapes, Grenache, Rousanne, Clairette, and Viognier. Ahhhhh. Pear immediately on the first open-mouthed sniff. I loved pears as a child. Makes me think of growing up in SC, cutting through the woods to get to a lady's yard to take her pears....The taste is delicate and smooth. Although I picked up some citrus notes, they were not sharp at all. I couldn't wait to go through some mental tasting notes so that I could sit down and enjoy this glass how I really wanted. 13.5%, and ages well for three years, apparently.
I need to keep this on hand.

Thanks to , I've found a white wine that I can pair with pizza! This Spanish white wine is a blend of four grapes, including Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, Bianca del Pais and Viura. At 13.5%, this wine is coming in 🔥. Aged on the lees in French oak for 11 months. I've had this with pizza and other dishes that include sausage! This white wine can hang, you hear me?! It is one of my favorites from the region. Highly recommend stopping by to see Victor of La Vid if you're in Tampa. Cheers!
