So, several weeks ago we found out it was a groundhog that had completely demolished our broccoli, pumpkin, and green bean plants, and then had started on our okra. A mama and baby. Demolished. It was the week we were leaving for a 2 week vacation. No time to do much of anything. We have 2 of our dogs in the pasture where the barn is and the rodents were living under the barn.
Everyone we talked to when we even mentioned ground hog, their response would be “Ohhhh, good luck with that one!” 😡😡Over a decade of having a garden and we’ve never once had an animal eat anything- the dogs generally don’t allow ANYTHING in.

Well, a couple days ago one of the kids came running up to the house screaming, “Ranger killed the Mama groundhog!!!”
BOOM! And this is why we have 3 Great Pyrenees!!! Thankful for this dog and all his hard work!!!

We had our first Chicken Processing class! Thank you to all of our first time students for being gracious as we fumbled our way through our first class! We’re going to try to have another this fall if anyone is interested! We’ll feed you lunch and you’ll get to take a bird home!!

We’ve been quiet for several weeks because we’ve been on vacation (yay!) but before we left we had our very first chicken processing class!!! We were super excited to share everything we’ve learned over the last 5 years of raising meat chickens with others who are just starting. It went well and the feedback was great from everyone!! Of course there’s always room for improvement and new things we learn each time, especially when it comes to teaching others.

We were so distracted we didn’t take a single picture of the class🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️EPIC FAIL🤪🤪So this is just a still picture from the video we made to give to everyone so they would have a point of reference in the future. Thank you to the families who came out and spent the morning with us! It was such a fun experience for us and each of you were lovely to get to know!
