Super cool homeschool thing we did today! We washed some wool from a local farm that was kind enough to bring us some from their sheep yesterday after we processed their meat birds! Feeling and washing raw wool was super cool for the kids to see and touch! It’s totally different than feeling the wool on the sheep. And to see how much dirt and debris their wool collects is so interesting! They raise Florida Cracker sheep and they’re BEAUTIFUL!!

In the spring we will go watch the sheep get sheared so we’re excited about that!

Thank you Kimberly from Hanako Farms!

Welcome to the farm! 3 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte hens. They’re so beautiful💕💕We have a few chicks that we already hatched too and are getting more hatching eggs this weekend! This is the last breed we’re building our flock from. These hens will stay in quarantine for about a month to make sure no diseases are spread to the rest of the flock. Can’t wait to put them with our rooster!

So the flocks next year that we will be selling purebred chicks from are the following:

Ameraucana
Rhode Island Red
Lavender Orpington
Barred Rock
Chocolate Orpington
Bantam Cochins
Black and Blue Copper Marans
Blue Laced Red Wyandottes (or any variation like Black, Blue, or Splash)

In Feb/March we will have hens and chicks available! We’re growing out hens of each breed now for purchase early spring. Stay tuned!🐥🐣🐓
