Farm life update šŸŒ±šŸ“

Itā€™s been a little eventful around here lately! First upā€”Andrew had an eye injury (scary stuff šŸ˜¬). True to who he is, he barely complained and probably wouldā€™ve just powered through if I hadnā€™t noticed. But after a trip to the doctor, heā€™s right back at it like nothing ever happened šŸ’Ŗ

Good news thoughā€”his truck is back up and running! šŸš— He got the radiator and water pump replaced, so itā€™s back to farm duty. Heā€™s also been busy planting new plants, because slowing down just isnā€™t his style.

Now for my favorite update šŸ’š One of our kidsā€”who has never cared much about farm lifeā€”has decided he wants to grow cinnamon basil and make something with it when itā€™s ready!! Yā€™allā€¦ this makes this momma SO excited šŸ„¹šŸŒæ

And the fun doesnā€™t stop thereā€¦ we just put turkey eggs in the incubator!! šŸ£ Fingers crossed for some little ones soon!

I guess I realized Iā€™ve never done a ā€œget to know usā€ postā€”so here we go šŸ’™

Andrew is the oldest still at home (our oldest has already flown the nest). Heā€™s 16 and about as ā€œoutsideā€ as a kid can getā€”seriously, heā€™s out the door from the time he wakes up until the sun goes down.

He and the other teen boys stay busy working in peopleā€™s yards and picking up odds and ends jobs. If something needs to be done, people around here usually ask for Andrewā€”and I didnā€™t realize just how much I depended on him until he started his new job!

He recently saved up and bought his very first truckā€”a 1991 Ford F-150. It needed a radiator and a water pump, and even though heā€™s helped his dad under the hood before, heā€™d never tackled something like that on his own. But he didnā€™t waitā€¦ he asked his momma if I wanted to help, and I was SO proud to stand right there beside him, holding tools and cheering him on. He had it fixed in about 3 hours!

And yā€™allā€”he did all that while dealing with an eye injury from the day before. A tiny piece of metal got in his eye while he was under the truck, and the doctor had to remove it, leaving a small hole thatā€™s healing now. Still didnā€™t slow him down!

Andrew is also our gardener šŸŒ± He loves anything that growsā€”trees, mushrooms, veggies, fruitsā€”you name it, he wants to learn about it.

Heā€™s 6ā€™3ā€, laid back, calm (most of the time šŸ˜‰), with his dadā€™s smart mouth and his strong work ethic.

I couldnā€™t be prouder of the young man heā€™s becoming.
