The Final March
I fear my life is about over and even still,
I wonder why I waste it choking down these pills.
My health is declining,
And I’m still deciding if it’s even worth the trouble.
My eyes are going to s**t, I wouldn’t gift those to my worst enemy
I doubt my heart is any good, though it continues to beat within me.
I’m just waiting out the last grain of sand inside that hourglass
I imagine the jubilee and parties thrown, when I finally pass
Wine and champagne spilling, staining the hardwood floors
Old “friends” of yesteryear busting through the doors
Yea, I can hear the band playing the sounds of merriment all night long
All my loved ones singing to each and every song.
There won’t be an epitaph to dictate, no eulogy to recite
Just a bunch of smiling faces, dancing with delight
So I bid you adieu, a premature farewell
I’ll send the devil your best wishes as I rot down in hell…
