We're Hiring - Urban Agriculture Educator / Teaching Farmer 🍄‍🟫

Mi Oh My Hydroponic Farms is looking for a passionate educator to join our team and bring superfoods STEAM education to K-12 schools and adult learners across all five NYC boroughs.

As a Teaching Farmer with MOM, you'll deliver hands-on lessons in hydroponics, aquaponics, mushroom cultivation, fermentation, and vermicomposting - inspiring students to grow food, build skills, and imagine futures rooted in food sovereignty.

✅ $20/hr. during paid training (4-6 weeks)
✅ $22-$30/hr. as a W2 employee after training
✅ Travel time between sites counts as paid hours
✅ Up to 35 hours per week, per-diem
✅ All five NYC boroughs
✅ Hiring September 2026

🌿 Plants absorb those nutrients while helping clean the water.
🦠 Beneficial microbes convert fish waste into plant-available nutrients through the nitrogen cycle.
💧 Clean water is recirculated back to the fish, dramatically reducing water use compared to conventional farming.
♻️ Closed-loop systems minimize waste by turning natural byproducts into valuable resources.

What an inspiring evening at Signal from the Soil: A Day of Mycelium, Sound & Story at the Museum of the Moving Image! 🍄🎥🌱

We were honored to be part of a day that brought together artists, scientists, educators, and community members to explore the hidden world beneath our feet. From conversations about mycelium and plant communication to immersive performances and interactive demonstrations, the event reminded us that nature is full of stories—we just have to learn how to listen.

At Mi Oh My Farms, we believe education flourishes when science, art, and community come together. Events like these spark curiosity, inspire new ways of thinking, and deepen our connection to regenerative agriculture and the living ecosystems that sustain us.

A heartfelt thank you to the Museum of the Moving Image, the organizers, speakers, artists, and everyone who stopped by to connect with us. Signal from the Soil
Saturday, June 20 | Museum of the Moving Image

Join us for a day of performances, workshops, conversations, and interactive installations exploring how mycelium, soil systems, and living technologies communicate.

Throughout the Kaufman Courtyard, visitors can engage with hands-on activations including mushroom cultivation with Mi Oh My Farms, plant communication systems developed through CROPPS (Cornell University’s Center for Research on Programmable Plant Systems), hydroponic and aquaponic demonstrations, biodata sensing with Skooby Laposky, and additional experimental bio-digital installations.

Inside Bartos Theatre, the program continues with a live performance and panel discussion examining ecological systems, emerging technologies, and more-than-human forms of intelligence.

Another successful Community Day in the Bronx! 🌱🍄

There's nothing better than bringing people together around fresh food, conversation, and opportunities to grow.

Last weekend, we connected with neighbors right outside the farm, sharing delicious food cooked on-site and introducing residents to our work in urban agriculture and regenerative farming. We're excited that more than a dozen community members stopped to engage with us, sample our food, and learn about the farm.

Even more encouraging, two local residents expressed strong interest in getting involved with our greenhouse project—a reminder that community-rooted spaces can inspire new connections, skills, and possibilities.

Building food sovereignty starts with relationships, and we're grateful for everyone who came out to share a meal, ask questions, and dream with us about what's possible in the Bronx.
