Another successful Community Day in the Bronx! 🌱🍄

There's nothing better than bringing people together around fresh food, conversation, and opportunities to grow.

Last weekend, we connected with neighbors right outside the farm, sharing delicious food cooked on-site and introducing residents to our work in urban agriculture and regenerative farming. We're excited that more than a dozen community members stopped to engage with us, sample our food, and learn about the farm.

Even more encouraging, two local residents expressed strong interest in getting involved with our greenhouse project—a reminder that community-rooted spaces can inspire new connections, skills, and possibilities.

Building food sovereignty starts with relationships, and we're grateful for everyone who came out to share a meal, ask questions, and dream with us about what's possible in the Bronx.

Big things are growing in the Bronx. 🌱

We’re honored to share that Mi Oh My Farms was awarded a microgrant from Farm School NYC to support by the expansion of our urban agriculture and educational programming! This funding helps us continue building regenerative growing systems, expand access to food education, and strengthen community-rooted learning opportunities in NYC.

As a worker-owned cooperative, we believe in creating pathways toward food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and community wellness through hands-on education and sustainable farming practices.

From mushroom cultivation and microgreens to aquaponics and urban farm tours, we’re excited to keep growing with our community.

Huge congratulations to the students at MS 331 Bronx School of Young Leaders for taking 🥈 2nd place at their district science fair! 👏🍄

Through our Superfood S.T.E.A.M. workshops, students explored the science of mushroom cultivation using recycled and upcycled materials — then brought their learning to life by building and setting up their very own mushroom fruiting tent. From ecology, nutrition to food justice and hands-on engineering, these young scientists are proving that growing food can transform classrooms and communities. 🌱♻️

Most store-bought food is grown for shelf life, not health. It’s often picked early, stripped of nutrients, and treated to survive long transport. When you grow your own, you’re choosing freshness, flavor, and food your body actually recognizes.

Mushrooms are one of the easiest places to start:

• Start with a mushroom grow kit or inoculated substrate
• Keep it in a humid, indirect light environment
• Mist daily to maintain moisture
