WEIGHT GAIN VS WEIGHT LOSS
"LEPA TO OROBO"
During my teenage and early adult years, I was so skinny that I desired to be "big". I wanted my clothes to "mold" my body. Even my tailor-made clothes seemed to have some "air-pockets". How was I to go about that? Eating more, weight-gain pills? This was never to be until I started having kids. Post 3 babies, life experiences and weight fluctuations, I know better. Why desire to gain weight when so many want to lose weight? Different strokes for different folks!
The rising prevalence and cost of Obesity/overweight is no joke. Obesity is associated with co-morbidities like metabolic syndrome (cluster of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes), sleep apnea, arthritis, gall bladder disease and certain types of cancer. So be thankful if you are "skinny" as long as you feel well and are adequately nourished.
"OROBO TO LEPA"
Dieting, gym memberships, private Olympians, etc. - the need to be at a healthy weight cannot be over-emphasized. I understand that, for some, getting to that "Ideal Body Weight" may never happen. Why? We are individuals, unique in our own ways, even metabolically. Some are big-boned and/or muscle-laden. What I preach is adequate nutrition, regular exercise plus restful sleep. You may have tried all but still have some "undesired weight" or loose skin. No worries! What matters is your fitness and vitality. Learn to love yourself no matter what!
