Have you ever wondered what happens before your Piedmont Fresh order reaches your Thursday pickup location?

Area farmers harvest, prepare, package, and organize their products on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Our Food Hub Director, Jordan McLean, and Food Hub Manager, Thomas McNeill, then collect products from farms and receive producer deliveries at our food hub.

Every item must be sorted, matched with the correct order, carefully packed, loaded, and delivered.

Your Thursday pickup represents an entire week of local people working together to move food from area farms to your family. 💚

Meet Crossings Farm, a family farm in Lexington, NC, where more than 200 years of family farming history meets regenerative, beyond-organic agriculture!

Owned and operated by Ben and Jennifer Myers and their family, Crossings Farm believes that healthy soil, healthy animals, and healthy communities go hand in hand. Their land has been part of the family’s story since the late 1700s, with generations continuing to care for and preserve its agricultural heritage. 🌾

Today, the family raises livestock using responsible, pasture-based practices focused on animal welfare, soil health, conservation, and producing wholesome food for their community.

Through Piedmont Fresh’s Local Food Access Programs, fresh food from area farms is provided to community members who may face barriers such as illness, limited mobility, transportation challenges, or financial hardship.

For one participant, receiving a locally grown tomato brought back memories of walking through the pasture with her daddy as a child.

Local food does more than nourish us. It can reconnect us with home, family, and memories we thought we had lost. 💚
