Through The Pines Plantation Horses

A few more of our broodmares who desperately need a spa day... any volunteers 😆

McCurdy's Stuntwoman is in foal to double registered stallion, Irish Temptation, owned by LJ Lundstrom.
Ostella's Princess Ann (the smaller sorrel in the second photo) is a newer addition for us and is double bred Bud's Sterling Bullet! She was bred to Gen's Roan Reward on one cycle and checked open BUT she is looking like she may be in foal to me... what do you think?
Ole Blues Blue Lady is in foal to Gen's Roan Reward and if she has a filly I will plan on keeping it for sure. I just love this daughter of Ole Blues From A Distance.
Last but not least, SCF Chasing Moonlight is in foal to Little John Lester and I can't wait for this foal! I wanted a foal out of her dam by Little John SO badly but it never happened and so this foal will be one I am looking forward to.

Our first mare due in 2027, McCurdy's Frosted Moon. I just love this mare! She is in foal to Gen's Roan Reward and due mid January.
Unfortunately Gen's Roan Reward has been having some problems/pain in his rear tendons and though we can keep him comfortable on Equioxx we do not plan to breed him any longer. He will be turning 26 next year and at this point we just want to keep him comfortable and happy as long as possible. He is living his best life by our house with one of our yearling c**ts for a buddy.
With that said, if she has a filly we will plan to more than likely keep it!

Who wants to play a guessing game on what she will have?? (Hint* she is EE so homozygous black gene)

I don't know if you have heard already but as they move more towards private sales Matt & Blaye Key over at the Walkin Cartel have started their own online auction!! This HANDSOME gelding will be the first one they offer and he is everything you could dream of! Be sure to follow their page and check out the links for more information! They are posting updates of him weekly and I can say he will be everything they advertise him to be!

Not a great photo but I couldn't help but share how nicely our 2025 c**t, Moonlit Gunslinger, is growing up! He is sired by Stoner Creek Farm's stallion, He's Ebony And Ivory, and out of our mare we bought from them, Go Boy's Midnight Gypsy. He has the best disposition and I just love how short and stocky he is built. I've been back and forth on gelding him and putting him in our Plantation C**t Program OR getting him started and breeding him to a small handful of mares in the spring! What would you do?

Yesterday we weaned the last 5 of our 2026 foal crop and took the mares over to our "weaning" pasture. The mares always seem ready and the foals barely made a fuss.
I love this time of year especially when it finally feels like fall in South Georgia. With all of the foals weaned and the weather cooling, the focus will now shift to getting our geldings out in the woods working dogs in preparation for quail season. I don't usually show much of that part of our program but bear with me as I am going to try to do that more this season.
For now I am so happy with how well our girls look after weaning some very big 6-7 month old foals and look forward to halter breaking the last group this week.

Our yearling and two year old fillies (with a few yearling geldings in the back).
I am so incredibly pleased with these young mares ❤

🔥🔥🔥POSSIBLE TRADE🔥🔥🔥

I am entertaining the idea of trading this filly for a filly unrelated to Little John. With his main broodmares getting some age to them I am starting to think about adding some young fillies to raise to join his broodmares.

If you have a filly you think you would be interested in trading PM me some information!

McCurdy's Rain Dance - 2026 Bay TWHBEA & McCurdy Filly
By Little John Lester out of McCurdy's Blue Ray

WOW is all I have to say about this filly.... I have decided that while I would still part with her it is going to take a good bit more than she was originally for me to let her go!
Working with this filly this past week, I have fallen in love with her and also her very unique shade of Bay. When I was raising AQHA horses I had quite a few this color but I have not seen very many TWH's this dark almost black shade of bay (I considered them to be brown when raising AQHA as they don't have the black points typical in bay).
She has been so willing and easy to work with the past week while halter breaking her and has a mind that just picks up on everything right away. We have ridden a couple of her full brothers and they were incredible horses that are now owned by local quail hunting plantations and of 6 foals she is the only filly her dam has produced.... which I think I should take as a sign that I should keep her 🤣
What do you think?

This incredible filly left for her new home today with Nikki Rucker. She is by Little John Lester out of our MFT mare, Sophie, and I was really sad to see this one go but I know she is getting a great home!

Our first group of weanlings have been a true pleasure to work with. Some hadn't been handled much prior to weaning aside from coming into the stocks to be dewormed but after only a few days they were all meeting us at the gate to be caught and have taken everything we've asked of them in stride. It is such a blessing to have such good minded foals!
