What an exciting day! (WARNING: Semi Long Post, definitely worth reading to the end.)
So I had a callout to Lacombe for a Commercial Establishment that handles strong liquid bleach as required by the Louisiana Dept of Health.
Once I got there I seemed to find the issue pretty easily, and thought to myself this was a common sense fix, but in the higher ups defense, He doesn't get paid to put the common sense to work, he gets paid to pay me to fix the issues! So I did my job and fixed the issue.
Well I figured as an added measure, I'd check the injection point and also the main feeder tube on the chlorinator. I pulled the line loose and when I tell you a line of bleach hit me at what seemed like 100mph, it hit me hard. Within a millisecond I felt burning in my mouth, my nostrils, my eyes, i think even part of my brain was on fire at this point, so all I could think to do was run out the gate and throw my glasses off, amd try to grab some rags, well as fate would have it, the wind closed the wooden gate as I was fighting for my life, so as I'm running out, the new Saints Linebacker that attended the university of wood and nails decided it was my time to meet Jesus. Well not today Satan.
I run out the gate looking like that tweeker we see at the Chevron at 1230 in Hammond on Tuesday night, I cant see and the gate knocked me into 5 minutes later. My wife, looking on from the truck, sees the commotion and asks what happened and i dont know what I said, but she understood it somehow and came with wipes and rags as I ran back inside the gate to run water over whatever parts were burning.
Just about the time I get in the gate my eyes started feeling like I was a bank robber who just got the biggest dose of mace from 10 different cops. All I could do was ask God to please not let me get shot in this process, just for good measure!
After all is said and done and 15 years passes by, the burning finally subsided, we got the chlorine issue fixed, and drove home smelling like a Holiday Inn swimming pool.
My glasses lenses have been permanently scarred and ruined, becuase 12.5% shows no mercy when it wants to attack.
My eyes are irritated to the point that I think if I got maced right now, it would be a welcomed change.
My nose smells like I've been huffing Walmart candles, "CLOROX STYLE"
My right arm feels like the QB the Monday after he got sacked by Cam Jordan on NFL Sunday.
Last but not least, I hope that the lady standing by the front office door will enjoy telling her husband and kids this story over dinner tonight.
If you made it this far, thank you. Also, pray for me, I may have PTSD after this! LOL
