Well... The birds flew the coop again, literally. I slipped out of bed on this early Sunday morning with dreams of warm dog snuggles on the couch and a quiet cup of coffee. HA! I took the dogs out for their morning potty and came in sounding the alarm that jolts everyone from bed (unlike the local tornado sirens). "THE BIRDS ARE LOOSE!" Everyone jumped into action throwing on the nearest "warm" clothes and shoes they could find and out we went wrestling turkeys and hens and one irritated rooster who decided this was the perfect time to pick a fight with me. After a frantic bird rodeo that seemed a lot longer than it was we did a quick headcount then a second, and a third. Worst fears confirmed, Pippin, the fool, was missing. What should have been a quiet Sunday in this tiny town turned into us driving up the roads gobbling and searching for this jake that normally can't find his way out of a wet paper bag. After 30 minutes of gobbling, driving, and harassing anyone on their porch just trying to enjoy the peace and quiet, we head home only to find the fool across the field behind a neighbors house. He were go storming across the fields yelling at Pippin pool noodle and broomstick in hands. IYKYK. There we find him flirting with the gentleman who lives there, acting like Rico Suave. After some sweet talking, threats under my breath, and one not so stealthily placed bush he never saw coming, I had Pippin in my arms hauling him across the field and into the car. Meanwhile Rain is driving home (4 houses) saying "don't you let him peck me!" the whole time. Happy Sunday Neighbors! Sorry about the racket!😂🤣🦃

Ever wonder what it's like living in a zoo? Buckle up because this is a good example. We went to pick up 7 new foster kittens tonight. Upon our return we let the dogs out into a backyard full of chickens.... Called the dogs back in, had the Katherine run around the run like a chicken herself, and managed to get all but one back in. She gave us a run for our money.

Returned to the house, took the dogs out, went to check each kitten and place in their new condo. Upon closing the gate, turned around, kittens loose having slipped the condo.... A chase, some tiny meows, one scratch later, the condo is secured.

Fast forward to this evening. Rain is opening a new toy... his birthday is Monday! Both dogs, competing to be closer to an electronic (picture below). He assured them 3 times it was not a treat before Rosie walked over to the ottoman, where the Queen, Zoe was resting peacefully. Rosie upturned the ottoman, launching the Queen into the air (her majesty landed gracefully I assure you), which caused Chloe to run across the house. Chloe, too busy rubbernecking the upturning of the Queen's throne runs head on into a door frame, to which Rosie turns, growls, and continues tossing the ottoman.

Meanwhile, Chuck is on the couch quivering with anticipation. Was it anticipation of the whooping Rosie was about to receive from the cats? Or anticipation of the riot she was about to start? No one can be sure, but I can assure you that this giant potato never did leave the couch because in the end no food was found to be involved 😆

Happy National Dog Day to our two puppies, Chuck and Rosie. Though you bark a lot lately, talk back all the time, and often take out the entire table with your tails, our home is happier because the two of you are in it.

Farm chores in the morning, foster puppies all day, foster kitten chores at night. Safe to say this girl is exhausted.
