don’t know if this little guy will make it or not but if he does, I will be so proud of myself.

momma was a first timer. the first baby that came was a little on the big side and really hard on her. I assisted her just a little bit, cleaned the nose off, & stepped away for a moment to give them some time together. I thought the next one would be just as big and take her just as long to birth. I was gone 5 maybe 10 minutes MAX. when I got back this dude was laying there still in his sac. I broke it open, cleaned his nose, & he was limp. I could feel his heartbeat there but it wasn’t good. I started to cry, but started CPR. after about 15 minutes he showed some signs of life. I worked on him about 20 minutes then got him in the barn with momma and the other baby. at this point he was still weak and of course she wanted no part of him since I had cleaned/stimulated him. her smell just wasn’t there…

in a matter of no time his temp was dropping fast and I told Jacob I had to get a thermometer, get his temp up, and get some colostrum in him. mommas colostrum was too thick and he clearly is in no shape to suck. we got his temp up to 101 and tube fed the dude. he’s resting now. I am praying he pulls through, but in times like this we just never know. I’ve done all I can do for him so it’s up to his little body to fight. ❤️ thanks for coming to my ted talk. these goats teach me so much.
