Love2Chow: Food, Travel, Outdoors Sharing a passion for cooking, eating out, recipes, culture & cookbooks. Also sightseeing, travel.

Much of my free time centers around exploring, enjoying and sharing a good meal -- whether recreating familiar childhood flavors or gaining new insights through cuisine and travel. I also enjoy hiking, kayaking and exploring grand vistas and tranquil nooks in the great outdoors with my family and two chow chows. I hope you find my experiences ruminating on food as a reflection of friendship, culture, and conservation to be interesting and helpful.

We were lucky to walk in to Michelin-recommended Kebab aur Sharab even though we got scammed by a prepaid reservation and had no hotel in NYC. My son overhead that they have the best pani puri (golgappas, not on the menu) and we were able to add it. What fun!! Totally unexpected chill herby blast admixed with crunch, flavor and tamarind. The fried fish appetizer and baby goat kebab (no photo) were fabulous, as were each entree including the dramatic fish curry reveal (the msn next to us said, that doesn’t look like a curry just before).

Smoked salmon tortellini in a butter cream Parmesan sauce. A one pot meal. Love2chow.com for recipe.

Tortellini, peas, carrots, smoked salmon, homemade butter, cream, dill salt and salt free seasoning.

Boil tortellini and carrots, drain. In same pot melt butter, sizzle the salmon, and then toss in drained tortellini & carrots.

Stir in cream and let sauce thicken a bit. Season with dill, salt, pepper. Add frozen peas (or spinach or chopped zucchini) until hot. Take off heat, stir in shredded Parmigiano-Reggiano. Enjoy! 😊

A perfect anniversary dinner last night at Casbah - a favorite since my first real job interview (could it be?) 29 years ago. I’m starting with the dessert because this may be the best crème brûlée I’ve had! So light to the mouth despite the cream and yolks I know are in there, with a crackling top, ginger cake, blackberries and a touch of lime and thyme. Almost made me wish I’d ordered my own, except the salmon in that lemon dill crema with corn, cuke, tomato and capers left me completely satisfied. Filet with all the good umami vibes of mushrooms, blue cheese and red w**e. A half order of corn & cheese gnocchi, grilled peach salad with pistachios, orange vinaigrette and Pleasant Ridge cheese was extra scrumptious as we had been avoiding salad greens due to Cyclospora. Carrot Negroni and Black Walnut Manhattan, a french grenache-syrah blend plus sourdough rounded out our meal.

Delicious breakfast made by our daughter and her boyfriend on our anniversary weekend. Cinnamon swirl buttermilk pancakes and Canadian bacon, eggs and cheese croissants. They forgot buttermilk so my husband transformed leftover heavy cream that my son had brought for my quiches last week into butter and buttermilk.
