Today is .

Environmental health covers a lot — air quality, food systems, soil, chemical exposure. It's a bigger picture than any one industry, us included.

We talked a few days ago about PFAS and how those chemicals move from industrial sites and landfills into groundwater. That's really the whole idea behind today: everything is connected. What happens to the air and land eventually shows up in the water, and what's in the water eventually reaches us.

Water is just the piece of that puzzle we happen to know best.

This is the first year Michigan has ever officially recognized PFAS Awareness Week (Sept 21–25).

If you've never heard of PFAS, you're not behind — most people haven't. Short version: they're man-made chemicals that don't break down, they've been found in water across Michigan, and you can't detect them yourself. No taste, no smell, nothing.

We broke down what it actually is, how it gets into water, and what testing looks like. Swipe through.

Curious what's been found near you? Here’s the link to the interactive map:

Apparently today has an official name: World Water Monitoring Day.

We didn't need the calendar reminder — testing water is just what a Friday looks like here. So today's as good a day as any to ask: do you actually know what's in the water you use every day?

It's a free, no-pressure evaluation — hardness, iron, TDS, pH, well water concerns — and we'll explain the results in plain English, not chemistry-class language.

We may not have brought the wine… but we made sure everyone stayed hydrated! 💧🍷

Douglas Water Conditioning & Plumbing Solutions was happy to donate water for Oakland Uncorked 2026 and support another great Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce event.

We love seeing local businesses and the community come together, and we are always proud to support the area we have been serving since 1968.

Cheers to a great event — and to staying hydrated along the way! 😉

Got this one from a customer in Waterford. Two hours, an RO system installed, and — this is the part that stood out — Jason rerouted their kitchen plumbing so the whole sink runs on softened water instead of just the RO line. In about two hours.

That's above ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
