The red poppies have had their spotlight the last couple of weeks but before they departe until next season, I got thinking how perfectly they would match some of my wildrags. Just look at them! Perfect, complimentary and my mind is spinning with creative ideas....

So far I'm really fond of this planting method for seeds. Sometimes direct seeding in this dry desert soil yields pitiful results. These boxes are just the trick to maintain moisture for germination. The seedlings will be easy to scoop out soon and plant in the beds and get growing!!

Funny thing about moms.... they don't always sit you down and teach you specific things. You just learn them because that's what they do, every day. Like watching the clouds roll in before a storm, knowing the names of wildflowers, appreciating fine handiwork, making a house a home, whipping up homemade caramels, reading good books and snail mail.....
She never sat me on the couch and said listen here, or quiz me on the details. I just know them because she knows them. I don't know if it's in the genes or by repetition or merely by observation, but it's a myriad of things I love about her most.

Every year I look forward to pageant season and getting to know more awesome gals like these cowgirls. I love watching them accomplish great things!
I had so much fun I completely forgot to take close up photos of the roses. 🤦‍♀️
They seriously matched, eh?
